Commissioner Rubino Brumm indicated it has been a year since she was sworn in as a <br />member of this commission and felt she still had a lot to learn. She felt that not too many <br />people know about the commission but'more is going to take place with communication and <br />getting information out to the community. Commissioner Rubino Brumm felt she has already <br />learned a lot about nonprofits and the work they do that is valuable to the community. <br />Commissioner Hayes indicated she had been a member of the commission for six years and <br />they really care about the community and as more people age -in-place we need to make sure <br />that services are strong and available. She advised that the grant program allows for engaging <br />with the groups and thought that Commissioner Lem has boots on the ground and will have <br />many valuable questions in the future and be able to provide information about what is taking <br />place in local schools. Commissioner Hayes encouraged new commissioners to speak up so <br />their comments can be included in the minutes. <br />Commissioner Clare advised that she had no experience when she joined the commission and <br />has been amazed at the learning opportunities that .have been available for commissioners <br />and felt a return on investment of time is valuable. She commented on the grant process <br />being a big part of the commission's work and last year the commission also did a lot of work <br />with . the Strategic .Plan that included workshops and obtaining information. Commissioner <br />Clare felt working on a committee is a helpful way for commissions to learn more about is <br />happening in the community and county. She commented on the fact that people being served <br />are not able to go to committee meetings and this is a good way to present their voices and <br />concerns. <br />Commissioner Carlucci noted that he- has been a member of the commission for about seven <br />months and encouraged new commissioners to speak up and not be afraid to voice their <br />opinions. He advised that he found the grant process challenging but is looking forward to <br />learning more before the next grant cycle. <br />Staff members provided information about their backgrounds. and their work with the City of <br />Pleasanton. Mr. Ingram thanked everyone, welcomed the new commissioners, and advised <br />future work for the commission will include the 2020 Census and work on . the Needs <br />Assessment. <br />COMMUNICATIONS <br />5.
