Commissioners further discussed goals for 2019 and provided a number of <br />recommendations. <br />A motion was made by Commissioner Damaser, seconded by Chairperson Hertle, <br />recommending the following 2019 goals for the Library Commission: <br />1. Continue community outreach <br />2. Promote a new library, and <br />3. Promote equal access to information. <br />ROLL CALL VOTE: <br />AYES: Commissioners Damaser Grewel,. Lehman, Nibert, Rai, Skowlund, and <br />Chairperson Hertle. <br />NOES: None. <br />ABSENT: Commissioner Sabatini <br />ABSTAIN: None <br />Chairperson Hertle requested this be placed on .the April meeting agenda for further <br />discussion. <br />COMMISSION REPORTS <br />6. Little Free Library Committee Update <br />Commissioner Nibert noted that a Little Free Library will be installed at the Firehouse Arts <br />Center within the next few months and will be stocked with books provided by Friends of <br />Library. Other locations for free libraries are being identified and the committee is working <br />with Project Connect to find suitable locations for other libraries. <br />Ms. Murphy discussed the importance of tying the little free libraries to the main library since <br />this was a project initiated to help promote the library. Commissioner Skowlund questioned <br />whether each of the little free libraries should have signage that indicates such. <br />Commissioner Nibert advised that the committee is planning a summer walk that will tie-in <br />with the library's summer reading program. <br />Commissioner Rai indicated there is a list of little free libraries but a printed map is needed <br />that will require constant updating as more little libraries are added. She provided <br />information about reaching out to Project Connect who is still working on finishing little free <br />libraries. <br />Library Commission <br />March 7, 2019 <br />Page 6 <br />
