7. Outreach Committee Update <br />Chairperson Hertle indicated that this committee needed to review and update the <br />presentation and suggested they work with Ms. Murphy on this so it can be further discussed <br />at a future meeting. She also suggested. the committee rethink how connections are being <br />done and start trying to arrange presentations or work on doing some outreach. <br />Commissioner Grewel discussed the challenges of trying to find groups and questioned if the <br />committee could obtain information about groups that people belong to. Ms. MurphZavised <br />that staff could share the outreach list they have with the committee. commissioner <br />questioned whether the library had enough materials to support outreach to diverse groups. . <br />Ms. Murphy indicated that one barrier is access to catalogued language materials in various <br />languages and staff is looking at different vendors to help with. this. <br />Commissioner Lehman commented on the fact that the city's website -was provided only in <br />English. <br />8. Friends of the Library — Booksale Sign -Ups <br />Commissioner Skowlund advised that the Friends of Library Book Sales is planned for <br />March 22-24, 2019 and. asked Commissioners to sign-up to volunteer to help. She also <br />advised that Friends of the Library were happy to support and provide books for the Little <br />Free Library at the Firehouse Arts Center. <br />9. Other brief reports on any meetings, conference, and/or seminars attended by <br />the Commission members. <br />Chairperson Hertle provided information about her attendance at the Youth Commission <br />meeting to discuss the Library Commission's request to provide youth commission members <br />of other commissions the ability to vote. She advised that the Youth Comon have <br />agreed to have their Policy Subcommittee review the request and bring back a <br />recommendation to the Youth Commission for 'a vote. <br />COMMISSION COMMENTS <br />A. Commissioner Grewel indicated it was time for a new photo of the Library Commission <br />members for placement in the library. Ms. Murphy suggested staff work on this. <br />B. Commissioner Skowlund asked about shirts.for members of the Commission. Ms. <br />Murphy provided information about ordering shirts. <br />
