reflect the map seen on A-5 and noted pages 32, 62, 66, 69, 124, and A-52 need to be
corrected.
Pat Costanzo PCJ Real Estate Advisors — shared a second letter with the Committee
which pertains to the Trails Master Plan and how it depicts where proposed trails will go
on the Merritt property. He agreed with Mr. Spotorno and would like to see a disclaimer
added. He identified nine different pages where he would like changes made and to
clarify what could be done on the property. Mr. Costanzo's supplemental letter shows
changes to pages 20, 30, 62, 61, 66, 124 and A-15 to A-17. He stated the Merritt
property has some key linkages for safe pedestrian and bicycle paths to the schools. He
added that pages A-17 to A-19 there is an error where it notes Fernwood Way but
should say Eastwood Way.
Chairperson Bowers closed the meeting for public comment at 7:25 p.m.
Ms. Piekarski discussed the half mile of unpaved trail along the Arroyo Mocho at
Stoneridge Drive and how she would like to see this project added to the "other"
category with a higher priority due to the connectivity to Livermore. She also shared that
connecting to middle schools should be as high of a priority as connecting to high
schools.
Mr. Fisch, Mr. Johnston, and Mr. McGinnis agreed with the Stoneridge Drive comments
previously noted by Ms. Piekarski.
Mr. McGinnis commented on page 13 and suggested a maintenance guideline be
added to the Trails Master Plan.
Mr. Johnston noted that there was no mention of alternatives on multi -use trails. He
would like to see future planning include scooters, Ebikes, and other methods of
transportation in order to avoid potential danger. Mr. Johnston suggested adding
contact information or resources to the final Trails Master Plan.
Mr. Hall commented on scooters in Long Beach and agreed there should be some
thought to how to address a shared trail in the future.
Vice -Chairperson Ritter agreed that grant or development funded projects should be
higher priority. He would like to see the comments from developers taken into
consideration to ensure the proposed trails are as accurate as possible.
Chairperson Bowers noted that language needs to be added to explain proposed trails.
5. High Priority project list status update
Mr. Nelson provided a status update on several high priority projects within the City.
Bicycle, Pedestrian & Trails Committee Minutes January 28, 2019
Page 3 of 5
