Commissioners Hekl and Wahl had no comments. Commissioner Deckert <br /> commented on the amount of staff time spent putting this Plan together and felt <br /> doubling the number of trails could only be great for the community. He suggested <br /> that trails rules be synced with rules of other groups. <br /> Commissioner Wahl requested that Commissioners be provided copies of the Trails <br /> Master Plan once it is finalized. <br /> Chairperson Bowers felt the Draft Master Plan was great and had been well received <br /> by the BPTC. <br /> A motion was made by Chairperson Bowers, seconded by Commissioner Deckert, <br /> recommending approval of the Draft Trails Master Plan pending the inclusion of any <br /> comments received from the Bicycle, Pedestrian and Trails Committee, Parks and <br /> Recreation Commission, and Planning Commission. <br /> ROLL CALL VOTE: <br /> AYES: Commissioners Deckert, Fields, Hekl, Wahl, and Chairperson Bowers. <br /> NOES: None <br /> ABSENT: Commissioner Hottle <br /> ABSTAIN: None <br /> Commissioner Fields requested that Commissioners receive printed copies of all <br /> Plans, since they are asked to make huge decisions. <br /> COMMISSION REPORTS <br /> 10. Committee Meetings <br /> A. Bicycle, Pedestrian and Trail Committee — Chairperson Bowers advised that <br /> the Committee had reviewed the Draft Trails Master Plan. <br /> B. Community of Character — Commissioner Fields advised that the Keynote <br /> Speaker at the Martin Luther King Breakfast has been Brian Copeland from TV <br /> Channel 2. Also, the event had been very successful with over 200 attendees. <br /> May 2, 2019 will be the Annual Luncheon for Community of Character <br /> C. City/East Bay Regional Park District Liaison Committee — no report. <br /> D. Heritage Tree Review Board — no report. <br /> E. Public Art Selection Sub-Committee — no report. <br /> F. Sports Council — Chairperson Bowers noted that this group had discussed <br /> parent behavior and the pressure this puts on kids. They also discussed <br /> sports groups that want to have made to specific sports areas. Ms. Murphy <br /> commented on the process for such and the City hoping the sports groups can <br /> provide funding. If no funding is available from them the projects would need <br /> to be budgeted. <br /> Chairperson Bowers indicated the Sports Council had also discussed <br /> reciprocal use agreement between the City and PUSD and were surprised this <br /> Parks and Recreation Commission <br /> February 14, 2019 <br /> Page 11 <br />
