ROLL CALL VOTE:
AYES: Commissioners Hayes, Sedlak, Rubino-Brumm, Wright, and Chairperson Parikh.
NOES: Commissioner Clare
ABSENT: Commissioners Parekh
ABSTAIN: None
5. Discuss Evaluation Process and Meeting Format for the Fiscal Year 2019/2020
Housing and Human Services Grant Program Review
Mr. Ingram noted that at the March 6, 2019 meeting the commission will be considering
applications for the Housing and Human Services Grants (HHSG). These applications for FY
2019/2020 are available online through the Zoomgrants program implemented several years
ago.
Commissioners were advised that 27 applications were received with an aggregate funding
request of $1,095,937. Mr. Ingram advised that Housing related projects are eligible for
funding through either federal HOME or local LIHF funds and will be considered for funding by
the Housing Commission.
Commissioner Sedlak asked about funds that have been allocated and are accumulating for
Tri-Valley Haven projects. Mr. Ingram indicated that Tri-Valley Haven is now working with a
consultant to determine project needs.
Information was provided to Commissioner Brumm by Mr. Ingram on the process for reviewing
applications by commissioners online through the Zoomgrants program. He also reminded
commissioners that the March meeting will begin at 6 p.m.
Commissioner Wright questioned Mr. Ingram on the idea that had been discussed prior by the
commission about allocating grants for two-years instead of one. Mr. Ingram advised that this
was not available for this grant cycle.
Commissioner Carlucci asked about the number of people being served and if there was an
overlap in any of the projects. Commissioner Clare provided information and noted that
recommendations from staff should be considered. Commissioners Hayes and Wright felt it
was always good to check if agencies have requested grants from other cities.
Commissioner Hayes reminded commissioners to keep in mind and use aspects of the
Strategic Plan when making their considerations.
6. Presentation of Library and Recreation 2018 Annual Report
Mr. Weisgerber reviewed the Library and Recreation 2018 Annual Report with commissioners
and advised that in moving forward staff plans to provide a more condensed version of the
report every 3-months.
Human Services Commission
February 6, 2019
Page 5
