12.4 Paramedic Licensing and Continuing Education <br /> Paramedics are responsible for maintaining their paramedic licenses and fulfilling all state and county <br /> licensure, accreditation and continuing education requirements. <br /> The Department will pay all fees and cost associated with paramedic licensure and accreditation for all <br /> employees in the paramedic program, including application and licensure fees tuition and textbooks for <br /> required courses and certifications, and approved overtime to complete continuing education classes <br /> outside an employee's normal working hours. <br /> The Department agrees to provide on duty continuing education classes whenever possible. <br /> 12.5 Paramedic Pay <br /> Paramedics will receive additional compensation while serving in the assignment. The compensation <br /> received shall be equal to eight percent (8%) of the employee's base pay. <br /> Paramedics who promote to Engineer or Captain (i.e. paramedics of rank) are not eligible for the <br /> paramedic premium pay unless designated or assigned as the Company paramedic. Current Paramedics of <br /> rank (i.e. prior LFD grandfathered Captain) shall be allowed to keep their Paramedic premium pay even <br /> though they will not be considered the designated or assigned paramedic to a Company once a <br /> Firefighter/Paramedic becomes a member of their Company. However,paramedics of rank who maintain <br /> their paramedic licenses and participation in the paramedic program will receive an additional one- <br /> hundred dollars ($100) per month stipend. <br /> 12.6 Paramedic Preceptor/Field Training Officer(FTO) Pay <br /> Paramedics who serve as preceptors/field training officers to paramedic students/trainees/interns shall <br /> receive sixty dollars ($60) per shift when precepting/training a paramedic students/trainee/intern. <br /> Section 13. Vacations <br /> 13.1 Vacation Eligibility <br /> All employees accrue paid vacation leave from their date of hire and may begin using accrued paid <br /> vacation leave after six(6) months of continuous service with the Department. <br /> 13.2Vacation Accrual <br /> A. Employees assigned to a fifty-six (56) hour work schedule shall accrue paid vacation leave in <br /> accordance with the following schedule: <br /> Years of Continuous Service Monthly Accrual Rate <br /> First through fourth year 12 hours <br /> Fifth through ninth year 16 hours <br /> Tenth through twelfth year 20 hours <br /> Thirteenth through fifteenth year 22 hours <br /> 15 <br />
