Sixteenth year and above 24 hours <br /> B. Employees assigned to a forty (40) hour work schedule shall accrue paid vacation leave in <br /> accordance with the following schedule: <br /> Years of Continuous Service Monthly Accrual Rate <br /> First through fourth year 8.57 hours <br /> Fifth through ninth year 11.43 hours <br /> Tenth through twelfth year 14.29 hours <br /> Thirteenth through fifteenth year 15.71 hours <br /> Sixteenth year or more 17.14 hours <br /> Accrued vacation leave shall be credited to each employee's account biweekly. <br /> 13.3 Vacation Accumulation <br /> Eligible employees may accumulate and maintain up to a maximum of four hundred thirty-two(432)hours <br /> of accrued vacation leave. <br /> Employees are not allowed to accrue vacation hours above the cap. At any time an employee reaches four <br /> hundred thirty-two (432) hour cap,the employee will cease accruing additional vacation leave until such <br /> time as the balance falls below the cap. However, in the event an employee has requested to take vacation <br /> but been denied or otherwise prevented from using vacation leave due to extenuating circumstances, the <br /> employee may submit a written request to the City Manager,or designee,for special consideration to carry <br /> over vacation balances beyond four hundred thirty-two (432)hours. <br /> Effective September 15, 2012, any accrued vacation leave in excess of three hundred sixty (360) hours <br /> was placed in a separate Excess Vacation Bank for each affected employee. Employees shall be entitled <br /> to use the hours in the Excess Vacation Bank for vacation or for extended leave in the same manner as <br /> regular vacation hours. The hours shall be paid out at the pay rate of the employee when utilized. <br /> 13.4 Vacation Scheduling and Use <br /> Vacation selection will be subject to the procedure stated in the department policy except for those areas <br /> specifically stated differently in this article. <br /> A. During January of each year, employees shall be granted an opportunity to choose vacation time <br /> in order of Department seniority. The January selections shall be for the period from February 1 <br /> to January 31 of the following year. Each employee in turn (based on Department seniority) will <br /> have an initial choice of vacation. Vacation selections can be for as many shifts/hours as the <br /> employee desires, not to exceed the total number of vacation leave hours the employee will have <br /> accrued by the date of the requested vacation, provided the vacation shifts/hours are taken <br /> consecutively. Once the most senior employee makes an initial vacation selection, the next most <br /> senior employee will make an initial selection of vacation shifts/hours. This process shall continue <br /> until all employees have an opportunity to make an initial selection of vacation. After all <br /> employees make their initial selections, second choice vacation selections will occur. Second <br /> choice vacation selections will be done in the same manner as the first choice selections. After the <br /> 16 <br />
