Design D: Portable Bandstand — Largest Lawns
Design D explores a different and unusual approach: that of a portable
bandstand. Depending on its type, such a bandstand could be set up in either of
the two parks or could be placed in Neal Street when the street is blocked for
special events. This approach potentially frees up space within the parks, allows
for the largest potential lawn areas, and would have the most flexibility of the
design alternatives. Although this option may require lower installation costs, it
might also require higher per-use costs, depending on bandstand design,
storage, set-up requirements, etc. Two accessible pedestrian crossings of the
creek are shown in Lions Wayside Park, and one (per the 2014 Master Plan) in
Delucchi Park.
For reference, the approximate areas of lawn for each design alternative, as well as
those in the 2014 plan and in the existing park areas, are shown below:
Design A Design B Design C Design D 2014 Plan Existing
Location (Area in SqFt) (Area in SqFt) (Area in SqFt) (Area in SqFt) (Area in SqFt) Parks
(Area in SqFt)
Lions
Wayside 24,000
- NW of 5,000 10,000 1,500 2,500 2,500
Creek
- SE of 10,500 5,500 13,000 11,000 27,950
Creek
Delucchi 10,000 6,000 10,000 17,000 13,500 21,125
Totals 25,500 21,500 24,500 30,500 37,500 51,575
Submitted by: Approved by:
9411/0/011106
Sean Welch Nelson Fialho
Management Analyst City Manager
Attachments:
1.
