REACH works with RADD and the mission of REACH is to provide a home environment to <br /> those with special needs. <br /> Commissioner Clare confirmed that REACH has zero salary expenses and that tenants are <br /> local individuals. <br /> Commissioner Roby asked about funds being requested from the City of Livermore. Ms. King <br /> advised that they are a tri-valley organization and tenants are all from the area and they have a <br /> long waiting list. They also partner with other organizations for property management. <br /> Commissioner Roby felt it was important for people to understand the services being provided <br /> by REACH and suggested they come back each year requesting funding in a different way. <br /> Ms. Roby asked for information on how they should present their funding requests. <br /> Chairperson Hayes closed the meeting for requested agency presentations at 7:23 p.m. <br /> Chairperson Hayes opened the meeting for presentations at 7:25 p.m. <br /> Hope Hospice, Jennifer Pettley — Grief Support Center & Hospice Volunteer Program — <br /> provided information about their grant request for volunteer services and support. She advised <br /> the program has seen a 48% increase in admissions and dementia is now the number one <br /> issue. Ms. Pettley commented on expansion of the volunteer program to help providing care <br /> and services in dementia that requires having volunteers complete a training program. <br /> Funding will help them provide these much-needed services at no charge. <br /> ChabotLP/TV One Stop Career Center, Sarah Holtzclaw — Pleasanton VITA 18-19 and <br /> Pleasanton Jobs Initiative 2018-2019 — provided details about the services they provide for <br /> high quality career services and stated she was sorry to see that the City of Pleasanton was <br /> recommending decreasing support for the program. She asked the commission to reconsider <br /> their application. <br /> Commissioner Wright asked about the diversity of the people from the City of Pleasanton that <br /> are being served. Ms. Holtzclaw provided information about the people they are able to serve. <br /> Legal Assistance for Seniors, Dan Ashbrook — Legal Assistance for Seniors — advised that <br /> Legal Assistance provides free services to seniors in Pleasanton. He also noted that over <br /> $600,000 in funding is received to provide services in other areas. <br /> Eden l&R Inc, Alison DeJunq — 2-1-1 Alameda County — provided information about their new <br /> website and how 2-1-1 is moving forward technologically to present a new partnership to serve <br /> the community. Ms. DeJung advised they are the county-wide call center for helping to <br /> provide assistance with homelessness. <br /> Chairperson Hayes asked about criteria before being to refer people to shelters. Ms. DeJung <br /> advised they can no longer refer people to shelters and agencies must meet HUD <br /> requirements to be able to provide assistance. <br /> Human Services Commission <br /> March 7, 2018 <br /> Page 4 <br />
