Schirmer advised that the goal is to provide a resource that will provide opportunities to work <br /> with other nonprofits. <br /> Senior Support of the Tri-Valley, Shelley Riley and Melanie Henry - VAST — Volunteer Gas <br /> Cards — Ms. Riley commented on the uniqueness of the senior transportation program and Ms. <br /> Henry providing information on how volunteers in the program assist seniors and how goals <br /> have been exceeded for the past year. They advised that they are looking for funding, so they <br /> can provide $10 gas gift cards to the volunteer drivers. Information was provided about the <br /> areas to which drivers are taking seniors, especially those with medical challenges. <br /> Commissioners were advised that more seniors are needed because the program is growing. <br /> Commissioner Roby was informed that the program currently has approximately 28 volunteers <br /> and Commissioner Wright was advised that 100% of the funds requested would be used for <br /> purchasing the gift cards. <br /> Tri-Valley Haven, Ann King - Capital Improvement Project, Shiloh Domestic Violence Shelter <br /> and Services & Soiourner House Homeless Shelter Program — provided information about <br /> changes by Alameda County regarding funding for homeless shelters and how they are <br /> needing to go to the local cities for funding to help keep the shelter open. Ms. King provided <br /> information about the Capital project and funding they received the previous year from both the <br /> cities of Livermore and Pleasanton for a solar panels project and a requested from the City of <br /> Livermore that a Needs Assessment be conducted to determine buildings were up to code. <br /> She advised that after completing the Needs Assessments are now in need for a project <br /> management company to oversee the project, and the project is estimated to be about $2M. <br /> Ms. King advised that she has been working with staff from the cities of Livermore and <br /> Pleasanton on this project. <br /> Commissioner Clare questioned whether the funds awarded the previous year have been <br /> allocated. Ms. King advised that the funds have not been accessed by Tri-Valley Haven <br /> because of all the other things that needed to be done first, also work will need to be done in <br /> steps but need a project manager to provide guidance. <br /> Commissioner Wright confirmed with Ms. King that staff from the cities of Livermore and <br /> Pleasanton were providing assistance on the work that needs to be completed and questioned <br /> what the $92,000 requested would be used for. Ms. King noted that funding would be used for <br /> roof replacement, concrete and ADA bathrooms. <br /> Chairperson Hayes expressed concerned about replacing a roof on a facility that had other <br /> issues and wondered what the cost would be to build from scratch rather than trying to do <br /> repairs. Ms. King provided information about a company they have been communicating with <br /> and discussing several scenarios. <br /> Tri-Valley REACH, Kay King — Housing Preventative Maintenance and Repair — provided <br /> information about the REACH program and services they provide to those with special needs. <br /> Ms. King advised that they have 27 tenants in 9 homes, 7 homes in Pleasanton and 2 in <br /> Livermore and funding comes from local grants, fundraising and donations.
