Some of the major projects that originated in the 2017-2018 City Council Work Plan that
have been completed include:
Affordable Housing
Phase I - Kottinger Gardens
Staff implemented the approved development concept identified in the Kottinger Place
and Pleasanton Gardens Predevelopment Analysis Report, resulting in new affordable
senior housing development on the current Kottinger Place and Pleasanton Gardens
sites. Phase I of the project was completed in October 2017.
Traffic Circulation
Design and Construct Stanley Boulevard at Valley Avenue/ Bernal Avenue
intersection improvements
Staff designed and constructed bicycle and pedestrian improvements on three of the
four corners of the intersection of Stanley Boulevard and Valley Avenue / Bernal
Avenue intersection. These improvements include protected bike lanes for eastbound
and northbound approaches as well as a new protected intersection that provides
improved bicycle and pedestrian visibility. Phase 1 of the project was completed in fall
2017.
General Plan
Mapping of Pleasanton's Southeast Hills
Mapping the southeast hills was an outgrowth of Measure PP, enacted in 2008 by
Pleasanton voters to protect Pleasanton's hillsides, to offer clarity on future land use
issues to current and prospective owners who are thinking about developing in the area.
The measure restricted housing and structures on slopes of 25 percent or greater, or
within 100 vertical feet of a ridgeline. To further clarify which areas of Pleasanton's
hillside fell within or outside of the development threshold, City staff mapped the
southeast hills, cataloging the slope and ridgeline setback for each property within the
southeast hills. This project was completed in December 2017.
Quality of Life
Old Stanley Blvd Resurfacing and Utility Undergrounding
The 2002 Downtown Specific Plan outlined a number of changes and improvements to
Old Stanley Boulevard, between First and Main streets, with the goal of better
integrating the street with the aesthetic of downtown Pleasanton and its surrounding
area. This project included the undergrounding all overhead utilities, installation of new
water and sewer mains, and the reconstruction of the street to add sidewalks, bike
lanes, and clearly defined auto lanes. This project was completed in June 2017.
