Not only does this
project allow for visitors to downtown to get online, but also provides the infrastructure
for future Smart City initiatives and projects. This project was completed in September
2017.
Support Sunflower Hill in identifying options for housing
Staff worked with Sunflower Hill to support and facilitate construction the 31 unit multi-
family residential development for adults with special needs; staff also worked with
Satellite Affordable Housing Associates to secure partial funding for the project in the
form of a loan from the City's Low Income Housing Fund. Both aspects of this project
were approved in February 2018.
Environmental Awareness
Automated Water Meter Infrastructure Upgrade
The Automated Meter Infrastructure (AMI) project consisted of replacing 21,192 water
meters with new non-mechanical meter technology outfitted with Aclara Meter
Transmitter Units (MTUs), retrofitting 581 existing mechanical water meters with Aclara
MTUs, and installing new composite meter box lids throughout the system for proper
signal propagation. These new automated water meters will not only enable more
efficiencies for City staff, but will also provide residents with additional access to
technology and data in relation to their water utilities. This project was completed in
December 2017.
Submitted by: Approve y:
Sean elch Nelson Fialho
Management Analyst City Manager
Attachments:
1. 2017-2018 City Council Work Plan, Updated 2.20.2018
Page 4 of 4
