without salary. The terms thereof shall be for two years. <br />Appointed to the Committee shall be persons especially <br />qualified by reason of training or experience in the <br />historic and cultural traditions of the City of Pleasanton <br />and interested in the preservation of its historic struc-. <br />tures, sites and areas. Members shall be residents of <br />the City and shall elect from amongst the membership a <br />chairman and establish rules and regulations for the organi- <br />zation and procedure to be used by the Committee. <br />.14 Historical Landmark. For purposes of this article <br /> <br /> a historical landmark or monument may be any real property <br /> such as a building, structure, ruins, foundation, route, <br /> trail, place including but not limited to a cave, oak grove, <br /> cemetery, burial ground, camp or village area, or a natural <br /> configuration, geographic or geological formation or <br /> feature which: <br /> <br />1. Is of particular historic, cultural, scenic or <br /> aesthetic significance to the City of Pleasanton <br /> and in which the broad cultural, political, economic <br /> or social history of the nation, state or community <br /> is reflected or exemplified; <br /> <br />2. Is identified with historic personages or with im- <br /> portant events in the main current of national, state <br /> or local his tory; <br /> <br />3. Shows evidence of habitation, activity or the culture <br /> of prehistoric man; <br /> <br />4. Embodies a distinguishing characteristic or an archi- <br /> tectural type valuable as representative of a period <br /> sty le or method o f cons truct ion; <br /> <br /> -2- <br /> <br /> <br />
