maintenance of any fire alarm or fire extinguishing system which could result in the transmission <br />of a false alarm. <br /> <br />2. The fire department may charge fees that reasonably constitute the cost of response to <br />false alarms when it is determined that the report is malicious, or resulting from the failure to <br />maintain a fire protection alarm system. In the event of responses to automatic fire alarm <br />systems, the responsible party will be billed for the response upon the third incident in any <br />twelve (12) month period. <br /> <br />20.24.110 UFC Section 1002.1.1 added--Fire Extinguishers. <br /> UFC Section 1002.1.1 is added to the Uniform Fire Code to read: <br /> <br />Section 1002.1.1 <br /> <br />The minimum size portable fire extinguisher size for all occupancies shall be 2A 10B:C as listed <br />by Underwriters Laboratories (UL). <br /> <br />20.24.120 UFC Section 1003.1.2.1 added--Installation of Fire Sprinkler Systems. <br />Section 1003.1.2.1 is added to the Uniform Fire Code to read: <br /> <br />Section 1003.1.2.1 <br /> <br />1. This Section applies to all new and existing buildings. <br />2 Where the underside of roof sheathing or the floor above is less than fourteen (14) feet to <br />the finished floor and the building is for commercial office space, a sprinkler design of light <br />hazard, or 0.10 gallons per minute over the most hydraulically remote 3,000 square feet is <br />required. Fire sprinkler design shall incorporate provisions for two (2) future tenant <br />improvement sprinkler drops below the ceiling. <br /> <br /> 3. Where the underside of roof sheathing is fourteen feet (14') or less to the finished floor <br /> and hazardous materials are not stored or used in quantities that exceed Uniform Building Code, <br /> Table 3D, a sprinkler design of ordinary hazard, Group II, with a minimum remote design area <br /> of 3,000 square feet (0.18 gallons per minute per square foot over the most remote 3,000 square <br /> feet) is required. <br /> <br /> 4. Where the underside of roof sheathing exceeds fourteen feet (14') and does not exceed <br /> twenty four (24) feet to the finished floor, a sprinkler design of 0.45 gallons per minute <br /> calculated over the hydraulically most remote 3,000 square feet, with a maximum coverage of <br /> 100 square feet per sprinkler is required. A 500 gallon per minute allowance for hose streams <br /> shall also be provided. <br /> <br /> 49 <br /> <br /> <br />
