(Continued from February 7) 1966) <br />Mr. Fales stated that this public hearing was continued from the meeting of <br />February 7th in order to allow the applicant time to prepare a proposed development <br />plan for the property and to explain the intent of the rezoning to the Council. <br />Mayor Long declared the public hearing open. <br />Mr. Lee Amaral, attorney for Mr. Wm. T. Marsh, presented the architect's pro- <br />posed development plan and requested that an amendment to Ordinance No. 309, zoning <br />this property to R -2 in order to allow construction of these proposed dwelling units. <br />It was moved by Councilman Gerton and seconded by Councilman McWilliams that the <br />public hearing be closed. <br />The roll call vote was as follows: <br />AYES: Councilmen Gerton, Harding, McWilliams and Mayor Long <br />NOES: None <br />ABSENT: Councilman Bubics <br />Councilman Gerton introduced Ordinance No. 445, amending Ordinance No. 309, re- <br />zoning approximately 2 acres located south of Kottinger Avenue, east of Second <br />Street, west of Del Sol Avenue and north of Neal Street from the R -1 District to <br />the R -2 District. <br />It was moved by Councilman Gerton and seconded by Councilman Harding that the <br />reading of Ordinance No. 445 be waived. <br />The roll call vote was as follows: <br />AYES: Councilmen Gerton, Harding, McWilliams and Mayor Long <br />NOES: None <br />ABSENT: Councilman Bubics <br />PRESENTATION BY MERCHANTS' COMMITTEE RE: OFF- STREET PARKING: CENTRAL BUSINESS <br />DISTRICT <br />Mr. Arthur "Bud" Plato, Jr., representing the Merchants Committee of the City <br />of Pleasanton reported on the work that has been done in order to form an off - <br />street parking assessment district for a portion of the Central Business District. <br />Mr. Plato stated that the Merchants Committee conferred with the City staff bond <br />counsel, engineers and appraisers and in order to complete the next phase of their <br />work, will need financial support from the City of Pleasanton. Mr. Plato indi- <br />cated that an amount from $2,500.00 to $5,000.00 will be necessary for more de- <br />tailed engineering, legal and appraisal work leading to the circulation of a peti- <br />tion for the formation of a proposed assessment district. <br />It was moved by Councilman Harding and seconded by Councilman Gerton that <br />Resolution No. 66-28, authorizing the expenditure of not more than $5,000.00 for <br />the proposed Parking Assessment District, be approved. <br />The roll call vote was as follows: <br />AYES: Councilmen Gerton, Harding McWilliams and Mayor Long <br />NOES: None <br />ABSENT: Councilman Bubics <br />REPORTS OF BOARDS AND COMMISSIONS were not scheduled for this meeting. <br />REPORTS OF THE CITY MANAGER <br />Engineering for Budgeted 1965 -66 Gas Tax Projects <br />Mr. Fales stated that due to the work involved in annexations and subdivisions, <br />the City Engineering Division has not been able to complete the engineering neces- <br />sary for the following budgeted gas tax projects: <br />Widening of Sunol Blvd. in the vicinity of Mission Park ($13,000.00) <br />Widening of Santa Rita Road in the vicinity of Amador <br />Estates, including completion of the frontage road and <br />"bulb" in front of the Alisal School ($16,500.00) <br />Mr. Fales indicated that the staff has solicited and received a price from <br />MacKay and Somps for the necessary engineering, including topographic surveys, pre- <br />paration of plans, right -of -way descriptions and construction staking for these two <br />projects, of $1,900.00. <br />Mr. Fales recommended that since these projects are budgeted from Section 186.1 <br />Gas Tax Funds, which revert to the State if the projects are not completed, that <br />authorization be granted to hire MacKay and Somps for the necessary engineering <br />work in order that the City may go to bid with these projects in the latter part <br />of the 1965 -66 fiscal year. <br />It was moved by Councilman Gerton and seconded by Councilman McWilliams that <br />the staff be authorized to hire MacKay and Somps for the engineering work on the <br />Sunol Boulevard and Santa Rita Road projects for $1,900.00. <br />2. <br />
