The roll call vote was as follows: <br />AYES: Councilmen Bubics, Gerton, Harding, McWilliams and Mayor Long <br />NOES: None <br />ABSENT: None <br />Mayor Long requested that the City Staff prepare a report for evaluation regarding <br />a revision of the basis upon which the franchise payment is made and also to further <br />investigate the basic rate charged for refuse collection in other Alameda County <br />cities. <br />Disposal of Surplus Truck <br />Mr. Fales requested permission to solicit informal bids to sell a surplus 1955 <br />three - quarter ton pick -up truck that was formerly used by the Sanitary Sewer Divi- <br />sion. <br />It was moved by Councilman McWilliams and seconded by Councilman Gerton that the <br />City Staff be authorized to solicit informal bids for the sale of a surplus 1955 <br />three - quarter ton pick -up truck and to sell this vehicle to the highest bidder. <br />The roll call vote was as follows: <br />AYES: Councilmen Bubics, Gerton, Harding, McWilliams and Mayor Long <br />NOES: None <br />ABSENT: None <br />Matters for the Information of the Council <br />Mr. Fales read a letter from John J. Amaral, Secretary, Pleasanton Area Chamber of <br />Commerce, informing the City Council that the Chamber has received a bid in the <br />amount of $250.00 from the Warren Decorating Company for flag decorations across <br />Main Street during the 1966 Alameda County Fair. <br />Mr. Fales recommended that this matter be discussed during the Fair Report Study <br />Session. <br />It was moved by Councilman McWilliams and seconded by Councilman Bubics that <br />Resolution No. 66 -2, authorizing the City Officers to execute the quitclaim deed <br />in Tract No. 2788 with D &V Builders, Inc., be adopted. <br />The roll call vote was as follows: <br />AYES: Councilmen Bubics, Gerton, Harding, McWilliams and Mayor Long <br />NOES: None <br />ABSENT: None <br />Mr. Fales read a letter from J. C. Womack, State Highway Engineer, regarding a <br />notice of intention to relinquish to the City of Pleasanton that portion of the <br />new Santa Rita Road that is in the City Limits. Mr. Fales stated that this is in <br />accordance with the Freeway agreement of Alameda County and the maintenance agree- <br />ment that was entered into between the City of Pleasanton and the State of Calif. <br />COMMUNICATIONS <br />Mr. Fales read a communication from Eldred Chance, Chairman, Zone No. 7 Board of <br />Directors, dated December 28, 1965, stating that the Zone No. 7 Board of Directors <br />is anxious to see a solution developed for the sewage problems of eastern Alameda <br />County. A meeting is being called for January 13, 1966, at 8:00 P.M., at the <br />Livermore Justice Court, to discuss with the interested agencies the progress being <br />made on the development of the central sewage disposal system for the subject area. <br />Mayor Long requested that as many Councilmen that could attend this meeting, do so <br />and cooperate with any agency to help solve this problem. <br />Mr. Fales read a letter from Mr. Ted Fairfield, MacKay & Somps, representing Mr. <br />Jack Johnson, who requested favorable consideration for the annexation of some 176 <br />acres, west of Foothill Road and south of U.S. Highway 50, to the City of Pleasanton. <br />It was moved by Councilman McWilliams and seconded by Councilman Gerton that a <br />study of Mr. Johnson's property be included in the study of other annexations in <br />that area. <br />The roll call vote was as follows: <br />AYES: Councilman Bubics, Gerton, Harding, McWilliams and Mayor Long <br />NOES: None <br />ABSENT: None <br />Mr. Fales read . a letter of invitation from the City of Albany to attend the dedica- <br />tion of the new City Public Buildings at 2:00 P.M. on January 15, 1966, which will <br />conclude with a dinner -dance at the Golden Gate Fields. <br />Mayor Long requested that the Councilmen be contacted at a later date for reserva- <br />tions. <br />2. <br />
