MINUTES <br />of <br />THE MEETING <br />of <br />THE CITY COUNCIL <br />Pleasanton, California <br />January 3, 1966 <br />THE CITY COUNCIL met in adjourned regular session at 8:00 P.M. on the above date <br />with Mayor Long presiding. <br />ROLL CALL by the City Clerk evidenced the following attendance: Councilmen Bubics, <br />Gerton, Harding, McWilliams and Mayor Long were present. Mr. Fales, City Manager; <br />Mr. Struthers, City Attorney; Mr. Campbell, City Engineer; and Mrs. Woodward, City <br />Clerk; were present. <br />PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE TO THE FLAG was led by Mayor Long. <br />MEETING OPEN FOR ANY MEMBER OF THE AUDIENCE TO ADDRESS THE COUNCIL <br />Dr. H. Long stated his opposition to locating a new Wells -Fargo Bank in the Shop- <br />ping Center to be located at the corner of Santa Rita Road and Valley Avenue. Dr. <br />Long also indicated that this was not in conformance with the General Flan. Mr. <br />Fales stated that the State Banking Commission, which determines the location of <br />new branches, made a negative decision in regards to locating the branch in the <br />Pleasanton's Central Business District. After considerable discussion, Mr. Fales <br />suggested that he prepare a report regarding this matter for presentation to the <br />City Council. <br />PUBLIC HEARINGS <br />Application of the Plante Commission for an Amendment to Ord. No. 309 assigning <br />zoning districts to the area of Annexation No. 40, "Kaiser Quarry Annex 'AI" <br />Mayor Long declared the public hearing on the above matter open. <br />Mr. Fales read the report of the Planning Commission, dated November 10th, which <br />recommended assigning zoning districts to the area Annexation No. 40 "Kaiser <br />Quarry Annex 'A' ". <br />The City Clerk reported that there had been no written public hearing communications <br />It was moved by Councilman Bubics and seconded by Councilman Harding that the Public <br />Hearing be closed. <br />The roll call vote was as follows: <br />AYES: Councilmen Bubics, Gerton, Harding, McWilliams and Mayor Long <br />NOES: None <br />ABSENT: None <br />Councilman Harding introduced Ordinance No. 437, amending Ordinance No. 309, <br />assigning zoning districts to the area of Annexation No. 40, Kaiser Quarry Annex <br />Mr. Struthers read Ordinance No. 437. <br />REPORTS OF BOARDS AND COMMISSIONS were not scheduled for this meeting. <br />REPORTS OF THE CITY MANAGER <br />C. M. Report No. 63; Parkland Dedication Ordinance <br />Mr. Fales read C. M. Report No. 63, which explained AB1150, The Parkland Dedica- <br />tion Act, which was passed by the State Legislature and became law in September, <br />1965. Mr. Fales briefly reviewed a proposed Ordinance relating to the dedication <br />of Public Park Land. <br />Mayor Long requested that a Study Session by held on January 10th in order to <br />discuss this matter in detail. <br />Request for Rate Adjustment; Pleasanton Garbage Service <br />Mr. Fales read his report regarding a rate adjustment for the Pleasanton Garbage <br />Service. <br />Mr. Lee J. Amaral, Attorney, representing the Pleasanton Garbage Service, outlined <br />the increased coats of wages for the collectors, insurance, and equipment. <br />It was moved by Councilman Gerton and seconded by Councilman Bubics that Resolution <br />No. 66 -1, approving the amendment to the existing contract with John Pietronave, <br />owner of the Pleasanton Garbage Service to adjust the rate for service and to <br />authorize amending the Ordinance to conform with the agreement, be adopted. <br />
