MINUTES of THE MEETING of THE CITY COUNCIL Pleasanton, California January 3, 1966 THE CITY COUNCIL met in adjourned regular session at 8:00 P.M. on the above date with Mayor Long presiding. ROLL CALL by the City Clerk evidenced the following attendance: Councilmen Bubics, Gerton, Harding, McWilliams and Mayor Long were present. Mr. Fales, City Manager; Mr. Struthers, City Attorney; Mr. Campbell, City Engineer; and Mrs. Woodward, City Clerk; were present. PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE TO THE FLAG was led by Mayor Long. MEETING OPEN FOR ANY MEMBER OF THE AUDIENCE TO ADDRESS THE COUNCIL Dr. H. Long stated his opposition to locating a new Wells -Fargo Bank in the Shop- ping Center to be located at the corner of Santa Rita Road and Valley Avenue. Dr. Long also indicated that this was not in conformance with the General Flan. Mr. Fales stated that the State Banking Commission, which determines the location of new branches, made a negative decision in regards to locating the branch in the Pleasanton's Central Business District. After considerable discussion, Mr. Fales suggested that he prepare a report regarding this matter for presentation to the City Council. PUBLIC HEARINGS Application of the Plante Commission for an Amendment to Ord. No. 309 assigning zoning districts to the area of Annexation No. 40, "Kaiser Quarry Annex 'AI" Mayor Long declared the public hearing on the above matter open. Mr. Fales read the report of the Planning Commission, dated November 10th, which recommended assigning zoning districts to the area Annexation No. 40 "Kaiser Quarry Annex 'A' ". The City Clerk reported that there had been no written public hearing communications It was moved by Councilman Bubics and seconded by Councilman Harding that the Public Hearing be closed. The roll call vote was as follows: AYES: Councilmen Bubics, Gerton, Harding, McWilliams and Mayor Long NOES: None ABSENT: None Councilman Harding introduced Ordinance No. 437, amending Ordinance No. 309, assigning zoning districts to the area of Annexation No. 40, Kaiser Quarry Annex Mr. Struthers read Ordinance No. 437. REPORTS OF BOARDS AND COMMISSIONS were not scheduled for this meeting. REPORTS OF THE CITY MANAGER C. M. Report No. 63; Parkland Dedication Ordinance Mr. Fales read C. M. Report No. 63, which explained AB1150, The Parkland Dedica- tion Act, which was passed by the State Legislature and became law in September, 1965. Mr. Fales briefly reviewed a proposed Ordinance relating to the dedication of Public Park Land. Mayor Long requested that a Study Session by held on January 10th in order to discuss this matter in detail. Request for Rate Adjustment; Pleasanton Garbage Service Mr. Fales read his report regarding a rate adjustment for the Pleasanton Garbage Service. Mr. Lee J. Amaral, Attorney, representing the Pleasanton Garbage Service, outlined the increased coats of wages for the collectors, insurance, and equipment. It was moved by Councilman Gerton and seconded by Councilman Bubics that Resolution No. 66 -1, approving the amendment to the existing contract with John Pietronave, owner of the Pleasanton Garbage Service to adjust the rate for service and to authorize amending the Ordinance to conform with the agreement, be adopted.
