This lease would <br />run through Nowemar, 1965, at which title Mr. t(enn c s lease with the City of San <br />Francisco expire'. An etiempt to negotiate a lease directly; with the City of San <br />Francisco for the land in question will be made at that time. <br />Rental rate for additional, flat, irrigable land is $65.00 per acre per year for an <br />additional 38.5 acre.-. and $8.00 per acre per year for an additional 39 acres of <br />hilly, non irrigable land. <br />It was moved by Councilman Harding and seconded by Councilman Bubics that the City <br />Staff be authorized to prepare a lease with Mr. R. C. Kennedy for additional land <br />until November, 1965 and with Victor Lund, Sr. and the City of San Francisco for <br />this land to and after Novmeber 1965. <br />The roll call vote was as follows: <br />AYES: Councilmen Bubics, Harding McWilliams and Mayor Long <br />NOES: None <br />ABSENT: Councilman Cairo <br />Matters for the information of the Council <br />Mr. Vales stated that the Joint Exercise of Powers Act Agreement for the Economic <br />Opportunity Agency of Alameda County requires the appointment of a City Council member <br />to serve on the Board of Directors of the Agency <br />It was moved by Mayor Long and seconded by Councilman Harding that Resolution No. <br />65 -37, appointing Councilman McWilliams to serve in the Board of Directors of the <br />Economics Opportunity Agency of Alameda County, be adopted. <br />The roll call vote was as follows: <br />AYES: Councilmen Bubics, Harding, McWilliams and Mayor Long <br />NOES: None <br />ABSENT: Councilman Cairo <br />Mr. Fales reviewed his report of February 23rd regarding the progress in the formation <br />of County Service Areas for structual fire protection for the unincorporated areas <br />around the Cityand recommended that one month's extension of fire service from the <br />City of Pleasanton be granted to the Castlewood Country Club area, and that an in- <br />III definite extension of service be granted to the Happy Valley and Stanley Blvd. areas <br />pending formalization of County service areas in these districts. <br />It was moved by Councilman McWilliams and seconded by Councilman Harding that an <br />indefinite extension of time be given to Stanley Blvd. and Happy Valley areas, and an <br />extension to April 1, 1965 be granted to the Castlewood Country Club Area. <br />The roll call vote was as follows: <br />AYES: Councilmen Bubics, Harding, McWilliams and Mayor Long <br />NOES: None <br />ABSENT: Councilman Cairo <br />Mr.. pales reported on the applicants and final selection of personnel hired to fill <br />three positions of Police Clerk, two positions of Fireman and a Building Inspector. <br />CO1iMUNITATIONS <br />Mr. Fales read a letter of invitation from Mr. Jack Blue, Alameda County Clerk, to <br />be present at a demonstration of the vote tallying machines on Thursday, March 18, <br />1965 at 2:30 P.M. <br />ORDINANCES FOR ADOPTION (second reading) were not scheduled for this meeting. <br />MATTERS INITIATED BY COUNCIL MEMBERS_ <br />Councilman Bubics informed the City Staff that in preforming a landscaping project in <br />a planter strip a television cable was ex cavated. He suggested that the system of <br />street tree planting be changed and also the possibility of eliminating the planter <br />strips. Mr. Fales stated that he will have survey made to see if these utilities <br />can be placed under the sidewalk if they are not already placed there. <br />Councilman Harding asked if anything has be accomplished regarding formation of a <br />Citizens Committee to work with the directors of the Job Corps at Camp Parks. Mr. <br />Fales advised Councilman Harding that Mayor Shirley from Livermore and Mayor Long <br />were planning to meet on March 2r.c' ree .r.ding this matter and the results of this <br />meeting will be presented to the Council. on March 8th. <br />Councilman McWilliams stated that in connecti;.n with the Job Corps thought should be <br />given to a site for disposing of refuse.
