Mr. Kenneth Volk, Volk- McLain Communities, Inc. stated that the City of Livermore <br />requests in their Director of Planning Report of January 19th, that the land use in <br />the area between the Pine Street extension, Vineyard Avenue and Isabell avenue not be <br />designated at this time but be held for further consideration until the Valley <br />Quarry Study Committee can negotiate. <br />day <br />Mr. Cunningham, representing the Church of Latter /Saints, stated that he had no agree <br />ment with Volk- McLain to sell the Churchs' property to them. He requested that the <br />Church property be allocated for residential. land use. <br />Mr. Fales stated that he wished to go on record that more consideration has been <br />given Volk- McLain Communities, Inc. than any other property owner, during the public <br />hearings regarding the Proposed General Plan. <br />Community Facilities <br />Dr. Ray Haskell, Superintendent, Amador High School District, requested that the higl <br />school site indicated on the Proposed General Plan, dated November 4, 1964, as being <br />located immediately north of the Pine Avenue extension between Interstate Route 680 <br />and Foothill Road, be relocated to a position immediately south of the Pine Avenue <br />extension between Interstate Route 680 and Foothill Road. <br />Dr. Haskell explained his request orally to the Planning Commission, the explanation <br />dealing basically with attendance areas and access from proposed attendance areas <br />via Pine Avenue. <br />Mr. Blayney and the City staff indicated that an oversight had resulted in the <br />omission of one public park area on the Proposed General Plan dated November 5, 1964 <br />This park, already approved as a part of Tract No. 2591, is to be located east of <br />Hopyard Road and south of Harvest Road, immediately adjacent to the approved church <br />site for Tract No. 2591, which is indicated as an Insitutional Use on the Proposed <br />General Plan, and the approved swim club site within this tract. <br />Mr. Blayney and the City staff suggested the inclusion of this park on the Plan as <br />finally adopted. <br />Circulation <br />The City staff suggested that the location of the Del Valle Parkway between its <br />intersection with First Street Stanley Blvd. on the west of Pico Avenue on the east <br />be shifted to the north of the Arroyo del Valle, with a bridge indicated in the <br />vicinity of Pico Avenue. <br />This suggestion was based upon considerable previous study given this matter by the <br />staff as a result of various previous requests of the Planning Commission. <br />Mr. Blayney concurred with this suggestion. <br />New Pleasanton Area General Plan; Proposed Pine Avenue Interchange with Interstate <br />Route 680 <br />Mr. Fales read a letter dated February 5, 1965 from R. A. Hayler, Deputy District <br />Engineer, State Division of Highways, regarding the Pine Avenue extension, in which <br />is stated that it would be impossible to justify an additional interchange to the <br />Route 680 freeway in this area between Bernal Ave. and Interstate Route 580. <br />Mr. Fales read a letter dated February 10, 1965 from Kenneth Q. Volk, Jr., Volk <br />McLain Communities, Inc. which•enclosed their letter to Mr. William Fraley, Director <br />of Planning, Alameda County and Mr. James Vivrette, Alameda County Surveyor and Road <br />Commissioner, requesting that Alameda County hold hearings and determine the precise <br />location of the subject interchanges. Mr. Volk, in his letter addressed to Mr. Fale <br />stated that he concurrs with the planning of an additional interchange located <br />5,000 feet south of Route 580. <br />The Planning Commission also heard information from Mr. Ted Fairfield, MacKay and <br />Somps, Mr. Schulte, Schulte Blackwell Development Company, and Dr. Ray Haskell, re- <br />lating to the retention of the location of Pine Avenue and the Pine Avenue inter- <br />change with Interstate Route 680 as indicated on the Proposed General Plan dated <br />November 5, 1964. <br />Mr. James M. Fales, Jr., City Manager, also addressed the Planning Commission and <br />indicated that he would forward a report to the City Council on February 15, 1965, <br />recommending the retention of Pine Avenue and the Pine Avenue interchange with Route <br />680 as indicated on the Proposed General Plan, dated November 5, 1964. <br />
