REPORTS OF THE CITY MANAGER <br />Adoption of Select Street System, Mr. Fales stated that the Collier -Unruh Transport- <br />ation Act requires adoption of a "Select Street System" by each city by February 15, <br />1965 and that this system will replace the old "Major Street System" for use of all <br />State Gasoline Tax Funds made available to the City. Mr. Fales also stated that the <br />system proposed is a result of the new General Plan studies and considerable addition- <br />al study on the part of the Public Works Department. <br />Mr. Campbell presented a map outlining the proposed select street system. Mr. Fales <br />read the proposed resolution. <br />It was moved by Councilman McWilliams and seconded by Councilman Cairo that Resolution <br />No. 65 -20, adopting a select system of City Streets, be adopted. <br />The roll call vote was as follows: <br />AYES: Councilmen Cairo, McWilliams and Mayor Long <br />NOES: None <br />ABSENT: Councilmen Bubics and Harding <br />V.C.S.D. Sunol Area Annexation <br />Mr. Fales stated that the Local Agency Formation Commission heard this matter on <br />January 28th and as a result of this hearing the annexation was withdrawn by V.C.S.D. <br />and will be resubmitted in a revised form. <br />Mr. Fales reviewed the deletions proposed by the Commission staff.which included the <br />area south of Castlewood Country Club, parts of the Gelderman properties and the <br />Citys Annexation No. 24. Mr. Struthers explained the legal aspects involving these <br />deletions in referrence to Annex 24. Mr. Fales advised the Council that this matter <br />would be put on an agenda at some later date, at such time as V.C.S.D. files a <br />subsequent proposal. <br />Final Cost; Filter Unit Reconstruction; Sewage Treatment Plant <br />Mr. Fales read the report of costs regarding this matter as presented by the Director <br />of Public Works. <br />Proposed Civil Defence Services Contract; Alameda County <br />Mr. Fales stated that for some time he has been duscussing with the Alameda County <br />Sheriff's Office the possiblity of contracting with them for civil defense services <br />to the City, in a manner similar to the contract they now have with Emeryville and <br />are favorably considering with Newark. He advised the Council that he has received <br />an offer from Alameda County to provide the following civil defense services for <br />$50.00 per month, or $600.00 per year: <br />1. Day -to -day administration of civil defense program <br />2. Planning <br />3. Training <br />4. Public Information <br />5. Stockpiling <br />Mr. Fales stated that such a contract will more than pay for itself each year just <br />through the preparation and submittal of required detailed program papers and status <br />reports, and the reimbursement funds secured from the Federal Government for the <br />purchase of such items as radios and other emergency equipment by the City. <br />Mr. Fales recommeded authorization of this agreement with Alameda County. <br />It was moved by Councilman Cairo and seconded by Councilman McWilliams that Resolutio: <br />No. 65 -21, authorizing the execution of an agreement with Alameda County for civil <br />defense services to the City of Pleasanton at $50.00 per month, be adopted. <br />The roll call vote was as follows: <br />AYES: Councilmen Cairo, McWilliams and Mayor Long <br />NOES: None <br />ABSENT: Councilmen Bubics and Harding <br />Annexation Agreement; D.C. Heath Co., Annex No. 35 <br />Mr. Fales stated that he has received the executed annexation agreement from D. C <br />Heath Co., which is the last agreement to be executed within this Annexation. He <br />recommended that this agreement be adopted. <br />It was moved by Councilman McWilliams and seconded by Councilman Cairo that Resolutioi <br />No. 65 -22, authorizing the execution of the annexation agreement with D.C. Heath <br />and Co. be adopted. <br />The roll call vote was as follows: <br />AYES: Councilmen Cairo, McWilliams and Mayor Long <br />NOES: None <br />ABSENT: Councilmen Bubics and Harding <br />Tract No. 2711, Amador Estates; Approval of Final Subdivision Map, subdivision <br />Agreement <br />Mr. Campbell presented the map of Tract No. 2711 and recommended that acceptance of <br />this tract be postponed until February 8, 1965 as one of the necessary bonds had not <br />been received. <br />
