have been received from some individual property owners in other areas requesting <br />the same service. Mr. Fales read a letter signed by Mr. Earl Augusta, Mr. Wilcox <br />and Mr. Johnson, dated January 23, 1965, listing some twenty three property owners <br />on Stanley Blvd. in the area from the present City limits, east to the Berry Farm <br />and stating that these property owners have initiated necessary proceedures to <br />petition to the Alameda County Board of Supervisors requesting the formation of a <br />County Service Area for structta1 fire protection to the homes involved. <br />This communication also requested that the Pleasanton City Council extend the <br />February 1, 1965 deadline of City fire protection for this interm period. <br />It was moved by Councilman McWilliams and seconded by Councilman Harding that <br />Resolution No. 65 -10, authorizing fire protection in the Stanley Blvd unincorpor- <br />ated area on the eastern side of the City, to and including the properties of <br />Richard Irby be continued to and including March 1, 1965, be adopted. <br />The roll call vote was as follows: <br />AYES: Councilmen Harding, McWilliams and Mayor Long. <br />NOES: None <br />ABSENT: Councilmen Bubics and Cairo <br />Mr. Fales stated that he has received a letter from Jack Poole, Clerk of the <br />Board of Supervisors stating that a petition from the Happy Valley unincorporated <br />area requesting formation of a County Service Area for fire protection, has been <br />forwarded. <br />Mr. Fales stated that a letter of intention has been forwarded by Castlewood <br />Country unincorporated area. <br />It was moved by Councilman Harding and seconded by Councilman McWilliams that <br />Resolution No. 65 -11, authorizing fire protection in the Castlewood Country Club <br />unincorporated area through March 1, 1965, be adopted. <br />The roll call vote was as follows: <br />AYES: Councilmen Harding, McWilliams and Mayor Long. <br />NOES: None <br />ABSENT: Councilmen Bubics and Cairo <br />1 -25 -3 <br />Mr. Fales read a letter dated January 18, 1965 from S.E. Jorgensen, Foothill Rood <br />requesting fire protection be extended their property. Mr. Fales explained that <br />the payments from this individual service would be made in lump sum to the City. <br />It was moved by Councilman Harding and seconded by Councilman ycWilliams that <br />fire protection be extended to the property of A.J. S.E. Jorgensen to and <br />including March 1, 1965. <br />The roll call vote was as follows: <br />AYES: Councilmen Harding, McWilliams and Mayor Long. <br />NOES: None <br />ABSENT: Councilmen Bubics and Cairo <br />Purchase of State Forestry Fire Truck <br />Mr. Fales stated that on December 28, 1964, authorization was granted to submit <br />a bid on surplus State Forestry fire equipment with a maximum of one piece of <br />equipment at a cost of $1,000.00. Mr. Fales advised that he has been informed <br />by letter of January 14th that the City bid for a 1951 FWD Firetruck, at a cost <br />of $1,000.00 has been accepted. He requested approval of a special claim against <br />the Capital Improvement Fund in the amount of $1,000.00 in order that the purchase <br />may be completed and ownership of the vehicle officially transferred to the City. <br />It was moved by Councilman McWilliams and seconded by Councilman Harding that <br />Resolution No. 65 -13, authorizing purchase of a 1951 FWD Firetruck, formerly <br />operated by the State Forestry Department for the sum of $1,000.00, to be paid <br />from the Capital Improvement Fund, be adopted. <br />The roll call vote was as follows: <br />AYES: Councilmen Harding, McWilliams and Mayor Long <br />NOES: None <br />ABSENT: Councilmen Bubics and Cairo <br />
