Your email has been forwarded to me for follow up.
The data on Safreno Way was collected in March, a week prior to Pleasanton Unified School District's Spring
Break. Machado data was collected the week following spring break. In addition to these 24 hour counts, my
staff has conducted peak hour manual counts to ensure the count loops are accurate. We have also compared
these counts to previous counts that we have on the roadways in the area to ensure the data is accurate.
I agree with you that the travel patterns are much different while school is in session and we purposely do not
collect traffic information when school is on break. In fact, even the day of the week influences traffic
volumes and as a result we normally do not even collect AM traffic data on Wednesdays, due to the "late
start" at school.
It might be that my staff left the hoses out during spring break or set them early during spring break and that
was when you noticed them. The data we collect is time stamped by the machine and shows the dates I
provided above.
Please let me know if you have any additional questions or concerns.
Sincerely,
Mike Tassano
Deputy Director of Community Development, Transportation
From: Michelle Sezen
Sent:Sunday, May 14, 2017 10:42 PM
To:Jerry Thorne<jthorne @cityofpleasantonca.gov>; Karla Brown<kbrown @cityofpleasantonca.gov>; Kathy Narum
<KNarum @cityofpleasantonca.gov>;Arne Olson <aolson @cityofpleasantonca.gov>;Jerry Pentin
<jpentin @cityofpleasantonca.gov>
Cc: Matthew Gruber<mgruber @cityofpleasantonca.gov>
Subject: Old Vineyard Construction/Machado Closure
Dear Mayor and City Council members,
