I want to point out a couple facts:
1) The Vineyard Trail was designed to be part of a regional trail system. It is not only for the use of the local
residents.
2) I was involved, as a citizen,to ensure the trail was designed and approved before any housing was sold in the
Vineyard Corridor. The conditions of the first projects being built along the trail did not allow the developer to
sell any homes until the trail was approved. There was a fear at that time that a great regional trail was
important to the Vineyard Corridor Specific Plan and we did not want to see people moving in then objecting to
an integral part of the plan.
I urge the Council to figure out how to keep this trail as was envisioned in the Vineyard Corridor Specific Plan. It is used
today by many in and outside the neighborhood. Perhaps there is a cheaper alternative to finish the trail. Signage and
markings to prevent people from driving on the trail might work as well as physical barriers. The city has been collecting
1
