X <br /> c) Be located on a geologic unit or soil that is unstable,or X <br /> that would become unstable as a result of the project, <br /> and potentially result in on- or off-site landslide, lateral <br /> spreading, subsidence, liquefaction or collapse? <br /> d) Be located on expansive soil, as defined in Table 18-1- X <br /> B of the Uniform Building Code (1994), creating <br /> substantial risks to life or property? <br /> e) Have soils incapable of adequately supporting the , X <br /> use of septic tanks or alternative wastewater disposal <br /> systems where sewers are not available for the <br /> disposal of wastewater? <br /> ENVIRONMENTAL SETTING <br /> The site is relatively flat, with limited grading required to excavate for utilities and <br /> construct the drainage, landscaping, and homes on the site. <br /> DISCUSSION <br /> a) The project site is located outside of the Alquist-Priolo Earthquake Fault Zone <br /> and outside of liquefaction and landslide zones, as identified by the California <br /> Geological Survey and reported in the Pleasanton General Plan.8 However, <br /> as is the case for most of California, people and property in Pleasanton are <br /> subject to risks from seismic activity. The active faults near the project site <br /> include the Calaveras, and Hayward fault lines. <br /> Based on an existing regulatory framework that addresses earthquake safety <br /> issues and adherence to the requirements of the California Building Code, <br /> seismically-induced ground shaking would not be a substantial hazard on this <br /> 8 City of Pleasanton.
