150-feet away. However, the location would be visible to the residents of Harvey Court,
particularly by blocking an unobstructed view of the park as they exit the Court. The
estimated piping and site costs for Location 1 is $50,000.
Location 2 (see image) — Hard Ball Field C
City staff concluded that locating the station to the east of Location 1 by 120-feet, in
front of Hard Ball Field C (Location 2), would reduce the visual impacts of adding a new
building to the area. The location is naturally screened with existing mature trees with
an opening just large enough that would not impact using a crane to set the station or
service the pumps. The location already has 8-feet tall fencing for the ball field and
existing buildings. The location is not in direct line of sight of Parkside residents
because it is screened by existing trees. The location was reviewed by park staff and
they determined that it would have no impacts to the fields, but that it would create
minor impacts to the natural flow of pedestrian traffic leaving the sports park fields.
However there would be more than adequate room for pedestrians to walk around the
station. The location would require the extension of the 16-inch piping but would not
have a hydraulic impact to the system. The location would require additional site work to
level the area and extend the sidewalk and access path from the parking lot. The station
would have minimal sound impacts to the residences located approximately 150-feet
away. The estimated piping and site costs for location 2 is $130,000.
Location 3 (see image)— Soccer Field 7
City staff considered locating the station to the west of Location 1 by 175-feet, between
Harvey Court and Curtis Circle (location 3), but the location does not provide much
reduction in the visual impacts of the project. It would remove the station from the direct
line of site from Harvey Court and has some existing mature trees to provide screening,
but it did not have existing structures near the area. The location would not have any
impacts to the sport park fields and would require very little site improvements. The
location would require the extension of the 16-inch piping, but would not have a
hydraulic impact to the system. The station would have minimal sound impacts to the
residences located approximately 150-feet away. The estimated piping and site costs
for Location 3 is $165,000.
Location 4 (see image) — Between Softball 5 & 6
The fourth location the City investigated is the placement of the booster station
approximately 500-feet southwest of Location 1, near the tree line in the middle of the
fields. The location would have impacts to the sport field layouts in order to provide
room for the building. In addition, an all-weather access path required for operation and
maintenance of the station would have a large impact to the fields. Park staff identified
the best location for the access road would be between softball fields 3 and 4, but this
area is actively used during use of the fields. The location would require the extension
of the 16-inch piping and would require hydraulic modeling to understand the hydraulic
impacts. The station would have very limited sound impacts to the residents located
approximately 650-feet away. The estimated piping and site costs for Location 4 is
$425,000.
Page 5of6
