Annette Brecheisen
From: Owens Pleasanton City Clerk SUPPLEMENTAL MATERIAL
Subject: Owens -give the lanes back
Provided to the City Council
After Distribution of Packet
From: Maithili
Sent:Tuesday, March 14, 2017 4:53 PM Date S -15 - 17
To: Mayor and City Council<citycouncil @citvofpleasantonca.aov>
Subject: Owens-give the lanes back
Hello council members,
I don't have the privilege to attend the in-person meetings to raise my vote in favor of returning our lanes back the way they
were. I worked at Oracle and it was a mess when we had to cross the single lane every afternoon for site visits.
As a Human Factors Engineer, I know for certain that people will anticipate a single lane can exist only for a short span of
distance. Furthermore, there are no warnings whatsoever to indicate the shortening of road. It completely goes agains the laws
of human perception and attention and anticipation to provide one small lane when there is no bridge or something like that to
expect that the lanes may narrow down. In the middle of the street, how can one expect that the lanes are reduced. This is a
major flaw in the human thinking process and will result in major accidents in the future to come.
Lastly, the city has no right to sell the lanes to a private developer and to make it profitable in their best interest. Please set an
immediate lane restoration action to be prioritized at your March 14th Council Priority Workshop.Any delay of what is clearly
needed only disregards the daily burden that this mistake adds to the lives of hundreds of Pleasanton citizens.
We also request your support to request an amendment to the Hacienda development agreement that will not allow future lane
reduction.
Respectfully,
Maithili Bade
Citizens for Owens Dr. Restoration
I
