SUPPLEMENTAL MATERIAL
Provided to the City Council
After Distribution of Packet
City Council @ Cityofpleasantonca.gov Date /- )9-17
Dear Mayor Thorne, City Council Members Pentin, Narum, Olsen, and Member Brown,
Re: Priorities Meeting for March 14, 2017
East Pleasanton Plan
Pleasanton Gravel should be FOR this project, because we are in the Sand & Gravel business,
There has to be Hundreds of thousands of tons of sand & gravel in this project, and the
Production plant is right next door to the proposed development, but we have concerns
about the possibility of re-starting the planning process for the East Side of Pleasanton
including over 880 residential units. Please do not add this to City of Pleasanton's list of work
Priorities for 2017-18. The reduction of the 1300 units in 2015 to 880 units does not change are
concerns about the danger of putting trails around Lakes H and Lake I with their steep slopes,
Especially for children and individuals who reside nearby and attempt to fish, play and trespass
into the areas near Lake H and Lake I.There are very serious risks of drowning should this area
become open to a greater number of people. We continue to patch holes in our fences, and so
does Cemex, who has been mining Lake A off of Vineyard Ave. in Livermore. That is where the
Teenager almost Drowned in July 10, 2014, was Rescued by Firefighters After Diving into Quarry
Pond in Livermore. Additionally, the nearby Arroyo Mocho can be dangerous in rainy weather
and provides a hidden pathway to the Vulcan processing plant that has dangerous equipment,
heavy trucks and access to unstable piles of gravel for those who make their way into the
mining operations area.
The plan calls for$4million to clean up Cope Lake, for recreational use, which has Broken
Concrete, Steel Pipe, Steel Beams, and other Debris. Vulcan pumps 9 million gallons of water
a Day into Cope Lake,Zone7 has installed a Siphon from Cope Lake into Lake I, where water
goes back into the ground storage. To create the Chain of Lakes, and Zone 7's Stream
Management Master Plan for a Bypass Channel for Water and Flood Control, you have to
pump the water out of the ground to get remove the gravel. There is no more space water on
our property, that is why water is being pumped into Cope. If the water could not be put in
Lake I, it would have to be put in Arroyo Mocho, where it end up in the San Francisco Bay. It will
take
until 2060 to Finish the Chain of Lakes, and the Stream Management Master Plan, so Cope Lake
will be full of water until then. I do not know how you would remove the Debris from Cope
Lake,without contaminating the,water going into Lake I.
The other concern is the increase of cut through traffic if El Charro Rd. is opened from HWY 580
To Stanley Blvd. The City of Dublin and San Ramon will have another way of cutting through
Pleasanton, besides Tassajara/Santa Rita Roads, and Fallon Rd. to HWY 580<West to Santa Rita.
I believe if this project is approved, by the time the Road is built, there will be cars, backed up
Bumper to bumper from Stanley to HWY 580, because Stanley will be backed up trying to get
on HWY 680 South, and Sunol Rd. South.
