3. Cylinders used shall be so designed or protected <br /> with hardened cylinder guards that they cannot <br /> be gripped by pliers or other wrenching devices. <br /> <br /> 4. Rolling overhead, solid overhead swinging, slid- <br /> ing or accordian type doors shall be equipped <br /> with a cylinder lock or padlock when not oper- <br /> ated by electric power. If a padlock is used <br /> it shall have a minimum of 1/4 inch diameter <br /> hardened steel shackle and hardened steel hasp <br /> attached by bolts. <br /> <br /> 5. Metal accordian grate or grill type doors shall <br /> be equipped with metal guide track at top and <br /> bottom, and either a cylinder lock or a padlock <br /> with hardened steel shackle and minimum five <br /> pin tumbler operation with non-removable key <br /> when in an unlocked position. The bottom track <br /> shall be so designed that the door cannot be <br /> lifted from the track when the door is in a <br /> locked position. <br /> <br /> 6. Outside pin type hinges on all exterior doors <br /> shall be provided with non-removable pins and <br /> shall have jamb pins which project through both <br /> hinge leaves and prevent removal of the door <br /> if the pin is removed from the hinge. Jamb pins <br /> shall be not less than 3/16 inch diameter steel <br /> and shall project into the door and jamb not less <br /> than 1/4 inch. (Jamb pins are not required for <br /> hinges which are shaped to prevent removal of <br /> the door when the hinge pin is removed). <br /> <br /> 7. Glazed panels in doors or adjacent to the door <br /> frame shall be approved burglary resistant material. <br /> <br /> 8. Sliding doors shall have the moveable section of <br /> the door sliding on the inside of the fixed por- <br /> tion of the door, or secondary lock, if sliding <br /> on outside of fixed portion. <br /> <br /> 9. Sliding doors and windows shall be designed to <br /> prevent removal by lifting when in a closed or <br /> partially closed position. <br /> <br />10. Locks shall be provided on sliding doors. Mount- <br /> ing screws for the lock case shall be inaccessible <br /> from the outside. Lock bolts shall be of hardened <br /> steel or have hardened steel inserts. The lock <br /> bolt shall engage the strike sufficiently to pre- <br /> vent its being disengaged by any possible move- <br /> ment of the door within the space or clearances <br /> provided for installation and operation. The <br /> strike area shall be of material adequate to <br /> maintain effectiveness of bolt strength. <br /> <br />11. Door jambs shall be constructed or protected to <br /> prevent violation of the function of the strike. <br /> <br />12. Lighting shall be so designed that all exterior <br /> doors will be well illuminated throughout the <br /> hours of darkness. Lighting fixtures shall be <br /> protected against tampering and breakage. <br /> <br /> -4- <br /> <br /> <br />
