S2-12.83 Commercial Buildings: Windows and other <br /> 0 enings. Each of the following types of openings <br /> s~all be as <br /> secured follows: <br /> <br /> 1. Louvered windows shall not be installed in areas <br /> accessible from the exterior of the building. Out- <br /> side hinges on accessible side of windows shall <br /> have non-removable pins. Exposed hinge screws <br /> shall be of the non-removable type. <br /> <br /> 2. Exterior transoms, with any dimension exceeding <br /> 12 inches, shall be of approved burglary re- <br /> sistant material. <br /> <br /> 3. Skylights shall be protected by 1/2 diameter <br /> iron bars or 1 x 1/4 inch flat steel or a steel <br /> grill of at least 1/8 inch material of 2-inch <br /> mesh under the skylight and securely fastened. <br /> <br /> 4. Hatchways shall be covered on the inside with at <br /> least 16-gauge sheet steel or equivalent and <br /> shall be secured from the inside with a slide <br /> bar or slide bolt and/or padlocks with hardened <br /> steel shackles. Hasps shall be hardened steel <br /> and bolted. Outside pin type hinges shall be <br /> provided with non-removable pins. Exposed hinge <br /> screws shall be of the non-removable type. <br /> <br /> 5. Air duct or air vent openings exceeding 8 x 12 <br /> inches shall be secured by iron bars of at least <br /> 1/2 inch diameter or 1 x 1/4 inch flat material <br /> spaced 5 inches apart and securely fastened, or <br /> by a steel grill of at least 1/8 inch material <br /> of not more than 2 inch mesh and securely fastened <br /> Barriers on the outside shall be secured with <br /> rounded head flush bolts. <br /> <br /> 6. Entrance doors to individual office suites shall <br /> have a deadbolt lock with a minimum one inch <br /> throw. <br /> <br />S2-12.84 Commercial Buildings: Ladders. Ladders (exclud- <br /> ing escapes) located on the exterior of a building <br /> which could provide access to the roof shall be se- <br /> cured from unauthorized use by covering the rungs with <br /> an approved barrier locked in place with a padlock. <br /> The padlock shall have a minimum of five (5) pin <br /> tumblers and be of case hardened steel. Hinges used <br /> shall be of a non-removable type. The barrier shall <br /> provide a minimum of eight (8) feet of continuous <br /> covering extending twelve (12) feet above ground <br /> level or to the top of ladder, whichever is lower. <br /> <br />~2-12.85 Commercial Buildings: Lighting. The following <br /> minimum requirements for lighting of commercial build- <br /> ings shall apply: <br /> <br /> 1. Open or covered parking areas, providing more than <br /> ten (10) parking spaces shall be illuminated with <br /> a maintained minimum of one (1) foot candle of <br /> light at the parking surface while open for busi- <br /> ness during the hours of darkness. <br /> <br /> 2. Lighting fixtures shall be so arranged as to dis- <br /> seminate light uniformly over the parking surface. <br /> <br /> -5- <br /> <br /> <br />
