Bicycle Boulevards are typically low volume low speed roadways that run parallel to <br /> arterial streets and are designed to give priority to bicyclists. These lower volume <br /> roadways provide a lower stress bicycling experience. Vehicles are allowed on bicycle <br /> boulevards and often times traffic calming tools are also installed on the bicycle <br /> boulevard to keep vehicle speeds low. <br /> : • <br /> T <br /> "Ore ',.. <br /> B LV 'C % <br /> 0 *r c) <br /> Safety Chapter <br /> The safety section of the Update is in the process of being finalized and will incorporate <br /> current collision data and trends in the City. Included below are 5-year and 10-year <br /> collision maps for pedestrians and bicyclists. <br /> Greater detail will be provided in the Update as to the nature of the collisions (primary <br /> collision factor, party at fault, number of injuries etc.). <br /> It is noted that the majority of the bicycle related collisions (over 80%) occur on the <br /> arterial roadway system. Roadways with the highest percentage of bicycle collisions <br /> include: <br /> 1 • 20% on Santa Rita Road <br /> • 14% on Valley Avenue <br /> • 11% on Stoneridge Drive <br /> • 11% on Owens Drive <br /> Page 10 of 16 <br />
