Attachment 1 <br />EMPLOYMENT CONTRACT <br />CITY ATTORNEY <br />THIS EMPLOYMENT CONTRACT is made on April 19, 2016, between the City of <br />Pleasanton, as Employer ( "City "), and Daniel Sodergren, as Employee ( "Dan ") concerning the <br />City's employment of Dan as the City's City Attorney. <br />RECITALS <br />A. Dan has the required education, training, and experience in municipal law. <br />B. City desires to employ Dan as City Attorney of the City of Pleasanton. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, in consideration of the mutual promises expressed herein, City and <br />Dan agree as follows: <br />1. Employment. City shall employ Dan as the City Attorney of the City of Pleasanton <br />as provided in this Contract, effective May 16, 2016. <br />2. Duties. Dan shall perform the duties of the City Attorney of the City of Pleasanton, <br />including administering the day to day affairs of the City Attorney's office, and shall perform <br />such other functions as are authorized by the City Council and by ordinance. <br />3. Compensation. The annual salary for Dan shall be $200,000 effective May 16, 2016. <br />4. Benefits. Except as provided in this Contract, City shall provide the same benefits <br />(e.g., medical, retirement medical insurance, dental, etc.) to Dan as the City provides to other <br />management employees as set forth in the City's Management /Confidential Employee <br />Performance Compensation Plan (Management Compensation Plan) as the Management <br />Compensation Plan may be revised from time to time. <br />5. Vacation Leave. Dan shall accrue vacation leave at the rate of 25 days annually. <br />6. Administrative Leave. Dan shall be credited with 80 hours of administrative leave <br />annually, to be administered as provided in the Management Compensation Plan. <br />7. Vehicle Allowance /Cell Phone. City shall provide Dan with a car allowance of $400 <br />monthly. City shall also provide Dan with a cell phone and pay for all charges related to City <br />business. <br />8. Performance Evaluation. The City Council shall meet after Dan's first six months of <br />employment in order to evaluate Dan's performance and salary. The City Council shall <br />thereafter meet annually (using Dan's start date in May) to evaluate Dan's performance as City <br />Attorney. The City Council and Dan shall jointly develop performance criteria. <br />Page 1 of 2 <br />
