Chairperson Pearce was informed that new car seats typically cost anywhere between $150 and <br />$400. Information about installation of the seats was also provided. <br />Tri- Valley Haven (Anti - Bullying Project / Healthy Relationships Program) — Commissioners were <br />provided information about the services provided through both programs. During the Healthy <br />Relationships Program students are informed on how to identify signs of a healthy relationship <br />and warning signs of an unhealthy relationship. The focus is to empower teens and change <br />behavior. <br />Funds for Anti - Bullying Program would allow Tri - Valley Haven to provide classroom programs <br />for high and middle schools students that teach them how to identify bullying and intervene for <br />safety in difficult situations. <br />Commissioner Lo asked about expanding the programs to more schools and whether additional <br />funding would be needed to do so. He was advised that if full funding was received it would be <br />possible to reach middle schools. Commissioner Chew questioned if the programs were offered <br />at Horizon School. Information was provided about what has been provided at this school. <br />Chairperson Pearce closed the meeting at 7:15 p.m. for presentations and a break. The <br />meeting resumed at 7:25 p.m. <br />Mr. Patrick provided information about the Community Grants Program, the funding amounts <br />requested by the agencies, average funding recommendations made by Commissioners through <br />the Zoomgrants process, and the funding Olympic Average provided by staff. <br />Commissioners agreed to review each of the applications, make comments, suggest a funding <br />amount and take an average of all recommendations. <br />Cheza Nami Foundation, Inc.. - Diversity & Culture Summer Camp - Pleasanton 2016 <br />Discussed cost per resident for this program and the number to be served. <br />$1,600.00 community grant funds recommended. <br />Child Care Links — Early Childhood Education <br />Considered this to be an important program. <br />Cost for six (6) car seats would be approximately $1,500. <br />$4,300.00 community grant funds recommended <br />Livermore Valley Performing Arts Center — Art in the Schools with Cheza Nami <br />Discussed funding only for the middle schools. <br />Inclusions with high schools diversity week and middle schools diversity day. <br />Possibility of having only at one school to determine how it works. <br />$2,000.00 community grant funds recommended. <br />Livermore Valley Performing Arts Center — Art in the Schools with Livermore Valley Symphony <br />Questioned why funding was needed if already approved by Civic Arts Commission. <br />Youth Commission Minutes <br />March 9, 2016 <br />Page 4 <br />
