Project Grant#: 15-53 Civicorps Schools,Recycling Apprenticeship Program,Oakland,West County,$18,000.00-Funds from <br /> this grant will be used to purchase the tools and supplies needed to expand the collection and processing of tires,oil,and e-waste. <br /> Civicorps will also train 25 interns in a variety of skills that will diversity their job prospects while also providing crucial waste <br /> prevention and recycling for the county of Alameda. <br /> Project Grant#: 15-54 Waterside Workshops,Street Level Cycles Youth Education and Bicycle Upcycling Program,Berkeley, <br /> West County,$20,000.00- Funds from this grant will be used to increase the number of internships provided and increase the number <br /> of bicycles upcycled through the Waterside Workshops organization. The grant will serve the dual purpose of providing more <br /> educational opportunities for low-income and poverty level youth in the reuse and recycling field,while at the same time increasing <br /> the number of bicycles pulled from the waste stream and redistributed to the community by 40%. <br /> Project Grant#: 15-55 Planting Justice,Teaching STEM through Composting and Recycling,Oakland,West County, <br /> $20,000.00-Funds from this grant will be used to launch an educational center on the farm,expand the school garden programs by <br /> providing day-long and overnight field trips using the bus to the El Sobrante farm,develop youth leaders using unique curriculum and <br /> facilitate them developing their own campaigns on campus,and create social entrepreneurship opportunities for youth in food <br /> production and waste reduction. <br /> Project Grant#: 15-56 San Francisco Department of the Environment,Food to Flowers!,San Francisco,West County, <br /> $10,000.00-Funds from this grant will be used to increase diversion in the San Francisco Unified School District and San Francisco's <br /> private schools by expanding the School Education program. In conjunction with a variety of educational program offerings,help will <br /> be given to schools to develop infrastructure to increase waste diversion and provide the resources needed to sustain those programs. <br /> This project will work in partnership with Recology,San Francisco's permitted waste and recycling hauler,as well as San Francisco <br /> Unified School District and private schools. <br /> Project Grant#: 15-57 Oakland Unified School District,Green Gloves Program,Oakland,West County,$13,101.00-Funds <br /> from this grant will be used to support the Green Gloves Program to continue establishing a universal and standardized system that <br /> provides schools with an outline of policy,procedures,supplies,and the support personnel needed for an effective waste reduction and <br /> sorting program while allowing for adaptation at individual sites. <br /> Project Grant#: 15-58 Community Action for a Sustainable Alameda(CASA),Multifamily Composting-Technical Assistance <br /> and Social Marketing-Years 2 and 3,Alameda,West County,$10,000.00-Funds from this grant will be used to reach out to each <br /> multifamily complex in Alameda to assist them in implementing the mandatory recycling and composting program. Work will be <br /> done with the Department of Public Works and Alameda County Industries(the Cities collection service provider)to ensure that each <br /> complex receives the appropriate level of recycling and composting services. Grant funds will also be used to conduct workshops, <br /> provide support,trouble shoot,and go door to door within each complex to make sure that each resident is aware of the program and <br /> knows how to participate. <br /> Project Grant#: 15-59 Northern California Recycling Association,Multi-Family Organics in Oakland,Oakland,West <br /> County,$34,784.00-Funds from this grant will be used to assist multi-family residents in Oakland to recycle and compost.This <br /> grant will focus on the larger,more complex sites(about 700),as these buildings are known to have the most challenges. These <br /> challenges include: garbage chutes(making source separation more difficult),the commons program(nobody is responsible for <br /> "doing the right thing"),and the"ick"factor(the perception that food scraps are too messy to separate from trash). <br /> Project Grant#: 15-60 Alameda County School Districts Waste Reduction and Sorting Support and Assistance,The <br /> Replicable Green Gloves Alameda County Wide Support and Assistance,Oakland,West County,$35,000.00-Funds from this <br /> grant will be used to provide technical service and support to schools and school districts to initiate,increase,and maintain their waste <br /> reduction and sorting programs by taking experience and skill with best practices for schools and school districts to make use of in <br /> meaningful,impactful ways. <br /> Project Grant#: 15-61 The East Bay Depot for Creative Reuse,Creative Reuse Connections,Oakland,West County, <br /> $21,166.00-Funds from this grant will be used to educate local manufacturers and businesses about donation and recycling <br /> opportunities,reduce the volume of reusable and recyclable materials in the local waste stream,continue to provide a hub for <br /> distribution of reusable materials to the public,create enduring partnerships to enhance the organizational mission,facilitate the <br /> movement of material donations from individual homes to the EBD store,and transition to a more local and sustainable model for <br /> large material donations. <br /> Project Grant#: 15-62 Fertile GroundWorks,Compost Education Center,Livermore,East County,$12,000.00-Funds from <br /> this grant will be used to increase the composting capacity to make at least 50 cubic yards of finished compost and mulch annually for <br /> use in the Garden of Grace and school gardens,develop educational materials for classroom use and to share as references to <br /> interested parties,teach interested individuals and groups how to utilize compost and vermicomposting systems,provide the <br /> community members with knowledge and resources to increase their home,neighborhood or business composting volume assist small <br /> businesses in achieving the reduction in green waste delivery to landfills,reduce the amount of precious green/organic materials <br /> entering the landfill waste stream. <br />
