Staff contacted our as-
needed general engineering consultants and found that Pakpour Consulting Group, Inc.
had experience working on similar projects with their subcontractor The Hanna Group.
After reviewing the proposal and interviewing the inspection team, staff recommends the
approval of the task authorization ($90,900) for Pakpour/Hanna Group to perform
construction support services.
The I-680/Bernal Interchange Landscaping Improvements project is scheduled to be
awarded July 21, 2015. The project is within the Caltrans Right of Way and requires
Caltrans-experienced inspection staff to meet the requirements of a Caltrans
Encroachment Permit. The proposed inspection staff has the required Caltrans
experience and can provide the construction support services for both projects. Since
the two projects will be overlapping and each project does not require full time inspection,
inspection costs can be reduced by using the same firm to inspect both projects. Staff
recommends the award of the first task for the seven bridges at this time and the second
task to be awarded with award of the landscaping project.
In addition to specialty inspection, the construction phase will require the design engineer
BCA to provide as-needed construction support services to review technical shop
drawings and answer requests for information.
