2. 250-82(a) of the adopted National Electrical <br /> Code is hereby amended to read as follows <br /> <br /> In all new residential occupancy instal- <br /> lations, the grounding electrode shall <br /> consist of two (2) reinforcing bars 1/2 <br /> inch in diameter and 20 feet long, or ap-. <br /> proved equal, embedded in the concrete <br /> building foundation. Such bars shall <br /> extend in opposite directions from the <br /> electrical service equipment and shall <br /> have a minimum 3-inch clearance from <br /> sides and bottom of the foundation. One <br /> end of each bar shall be bent 90° and <br /> shall project vertically from the founda- <br /> tion to a minimum of 6 inches above mud <br /> sill at the service location for connec- <br /> tion to the grounding conductor. The <br /> vertical sections of the two bars shall <br /> be bonded together mechanically within <br /> the area of the concrete. The connection <br /> of the grounding conductor to the elect- <br /> rode shall be made with an approved <br /> ground clamp installed within a readily <br /> accessible junction box. The water <br /> piping in the building shall be bonded <br /> to the electrode within the junction box. <br /> <br />b . Additions. <br /> "Article 91 - Administrative Regulations. <br /> <br /> 91-1 SCOPE. <br /> a. Prohibited Acts. No person shall construct, <br /> install, renew, alter, use or maintain any <br /> electrical wiring, devices, appliances or <br /> equipment except as provided by this chapter. <br /> b. Moved Buildings. All electrical work existing <br /> in buildings moved into or within the incor- <br /> porated area of the City after the effective <br /> date of this chapter shall comply with the <br /> requirements of this chapter. <br /> c. Existing Construction. Except for existing <br /> electrical work in buildings moved into or <br /> within the City, nothing contained in this <br /> chapter shall be construed to require any <br /> construction or work regulated by this chapter <br /> to be altered, changed, reconstructed, removed <br /> or demolished if such construction or work <br /> was installed prior to the effective date of <br /> Ordinance No. 477, March 21, 1967, and in ac- <br /> cordance with any laws or regulations in <br /> effect at the time of its installation, except <br /> when any such construction or work regulated <br /> by this chapter is dangerous, unsafe or a <br /> menace to life, health or propert.V in the <br /> judgment of the Chief Building Inspector of <br /> the City of Pleasanton, or his duly appointed <br /> representative, based on his knowledge and <br /> expertise and the current provisions of the <br /> National Electrical Code. <br /> <br /> -2- <br /> <br /> <br />
