SUPPLEMENTAL MATERIAL
—
i\ :JJ L H i , City Cvura.0
Subject: FW: Pleasanton General Plan should be used as thiefORrAtEtakition of Packed
bate c48`Is
From: Julie Testa
Sent: Monday, May 18, 2015 1:41 PM
To: Jerry Thome; Mayor and City Council; Karla Brown; Kathy Narum; Jerry Pentin
Cc: Nelson Fialho
Subject: Pleasanton General Plan should be used as the benchmark
City Council,
The EPSP staff report is dishonest. Rather than using the Pleasanton General Plan guidelines to determine
school impact that would result in significant unmet school mitigation, the PUSD report was used. The General
Plan guidelines were arrived at through a great deal of community input and mutual agreement of both PUSD
School Board and City Council. The General Plan Guidelines identify elementary schools of 600 students,
middle schools that cap at 1000, and High Schools that would have a maximum student enrollment of 2000,
allowing additional 10% when necessary. The PUSD report allows schools of unlimited size and uses
questionable assumptions. The PUSD report qualifies that schools are not needed only if extreme enrollments
are acceptable. If using the PUSD report you must also qualify it as they did.
From the first EPSP meeting I repeatedly requested an honest analysis of school impacts; the issue was ignored
for two years. At the first community meeting Brian gave blatant misinformation about school impacts. He
promised to make it right at the second meeting, but he chose to give, less blatant, but misleading information.
The third community meeting was again misleading, choosing not to use the General Plan guidelines to
determine school impacts.
Please do not allow this dishonesty to continue. Our Pleasanton General Plan should be used as the benchmark
to determine unmet mitigation in city planning. City council must not allow continued disregard of violations to
the General Plan.
If our community is to plan for growth there are ways to mitigate school enrollment honestly.
If you think your actions are too small to make a difference, you have never been in bed with a mosquito.
--Unknown
Click here to report this email as spam.
1
