The achievement of a physical environment reflecting <br /> the design principles of a small rural town where the <br /> preservation of historical structures is of great <br /> importance . <br /> 8. The development of local employment opportunities <br /> through expansion of commercial activities . <br /> SECTION III . SUMMARY OF PROPOSED ACTIONS • <br /> In order to carry out the intent and purpose of the California <br /> Community Redevelopment Law and the Pleasanton redevelopment <br /> objectives broadly defined above , generally the procedures <br /> will be as follows : <br /> 1 . Acquisition of real property by purchase, gift , device <br /> or by exercise of the power of eminent domain, where <br /> necessary . <br /> • <br /> 2 . Removal , rehabilitation , alteration, modernization , <br /> general improvements or any combination thereof, of <br /> existing structures in the Project Area where such <br /> are needed, permitted or required under the Redevelop- <br /> ment Plan. <br /> 3. Dedication of certain areas for public street purposes . <br /> 4 . Construction of needed City facilities , improvement of <br /> public streets , parking areas and pedestrian ways <br /> by means of paving , lighting, landscaping and other <br /> improvements . <br /> 5 . The achievement of a physical environment reflecting <br /> the high level of concern for architectural and <br /> urban design principles deemed important by the <br /> citizens of the City of Pleasanton. <br /> SECTION IV. GENERAL STATEN-ENT OF LAND USES , PRINCIPAL STREETS , <br /> AND BUILDIIG STANDARDS <br /> A. Land Uses <br /> 1 . Commercial (C) Districts : The permitted uses shall <br /> be retail and wholesale sales ; office uses ; such <br /> service enterprises as banks , personal service shops , <br /> hotels , motels and meeting facilities , amusement or <br /> recreation establishments , restaurants and other <br /> places serving food and beverages ; and off-street <br /> parking and loading areas . <br /> -5- <br />
