First Tee of the Tri-Valley plans to sponsor a big after-school event at each of the either <br /> Pleasanton elementary schools. She provided information on how the program helps <br /> students with social and behavioral issues and fits within the goals of the Youth Master Plan. <br /> Approximately $4,000 of the requested funding would be used to purchase new equipment, <br /> with the remainder for an after-school event. <br /> Commissioner Lo discussed coordination of the program and the teaching personnel with Ms. <br /> Hadley, and Commissioner DuBose asked about aspects of the program that the game of golf <br /> that can serve students in other ways. <br /> Valley Care Health Systems— CPR in Schools — Commissioners were provided information <br /> about the proposed CPR program in schools that would be provided to hospital Junior <br /> Volunteers who would then through mentoring and support from Valley Care AHA be able to <br /> help other students become familiar with CPR training. Information about the importance of <br /> reaching high school students about this training was discussed, along with details about <br /> other U.S. States requiring this before graduating from high school. <br /> Commissioner Chew questioned whether anyone from Valley Care had spoken to PUSD <br /> representatives, and she and Commissioner Lo advised that 7th grade students in Pleasanton <br /> already receive CPR training as part of the health curriculum. Commissioner Pearce <br /> questioned whether the Valley Care program would be a certified program. <br /> Commissioner Amrbosiewicz was provided information about the program and working with <br /> ROP students. <br /> Commissioner Lo was advised that funds requested would be used to purchase equipment <br /> for the program, and Commissioner Chew confirmed that Valley Care would be purchasing <br /> AD simulators. <br /> Commissioner Mari had questions concerning the Volunteer program at Valley Care and <br /> Chairperson Sinha had questions regarding the length of the training program. <br /> The Gatehouse Academy for Gift Education —enGaoe Summer Enrichment Camp 2015, Lynn & <br /> Bob Gatehouse — provided information about the EnGage Summer Enrichment Camp program <br /> and advised that they were seeking funding to purchase one LEGO EV3 Core Set and Software, <br /> an EV3 Classroom Activities for the Busy Teacher book, and a 30 FlTstep pedometers. <br /> Commissioners were advised that this equipment would be used for technology courses <br /> provided during the summer camp and would allow for expansion beyond the camp. The <br /> equipment can also be used in additional years. <br /> Commissioner Lo was advised by Ms. Gatehouse that the equipment, if purchased, would be <br /> shared with Harvest Park's Robotics Club.
