advising that eleven (11) applications had been received in the Youth Category. <br /> Commissioners were advised by Ms. Hopkins that the total of funds requested from the <br /> eleven (11) applications was $78,349.00, and that $40,000 has been allocated in the <br /> FY2015/16 Operating Budget for the Youth category of the Community Grant Program, with <br /> an additional $10,454.31 of unspent funds from FY 2014/15 also being available. It was also <br /> noted that five (5) out of thirteen (13) of Youth Commissioners in the tentative voting process <br /> on ZoomGrants. <br /> The meeting was opened for presentations from agencies requesting funding. <br /> Cheza Nami Foundation, Inc. - Youth Diversity Summer Camp-Pleasanton 2015, Catherine <br /> Ndunqu-Case and Heather 77727 Pleasanton Unified School District—discussed with the <br /> Commission the population diversity in Pleasanton and the need to prepare youth for cultural <br /> changes. Ms. Case provided information about the program which will provide leadership <br /> through an interactive week of providing African cultural performances and visual arts. <br /> Heather commented on the School District wide program that will introduce activities and <br /> diversity to students. <br /> Commissioner Rigl asked about the cost per student to participate and what the requested <br /> funds would be used for. He was advised that the program would provide students with a <br /> deeper understanding of cultural diversity and funds would allow for purchasing needed <br /> materials. <br /> Commissioner Lo was provided information on how low-income students would be selected <br /> for the program. <br /> Commissioner Ambrosiewicz discussed with the agency representatives advertising to be <br /> done for the program and why the program would only be available to 30 low-income <br /> students. He was advised that Chez Nami hopes to reach out to low-income students that <br /> are unable to access other programs. This 5-day summer camp will be offered at Amador <br /> Valley High School and the School District hopes the program can be expanded in the future. <br /> Commissioner Chew was advised that if additional funding becomes available, the program <br /> could be opened up for other youth. <br /> Commissioner Pearce questioned whether this program would be advertised as being <br /> available only for low-income youth. He was advised that this would not be the case, <br /> however the funding being requested from the Youth Commission would be designated only <br /> for the low-income. Commissioner Ambrosiewicz felt it was important not to offend low- <br /> income students by insensitive advertising. <br /> Chairperson Sinha opened the meeting for presentations from requested agencies. <br /> Partners Fore Golf, Inc. —The First Tee's National School Program, Laura Hadley— Ms. <br /> Hadley discussed the program and advised that about The First Tee Nine Core Values.
