The recommended appropriation of $573,122 from the In Lieu Park Dedication Fee
Reserve Fund is necessary for procuring and installing play equipment in the park's play
area ($250,000), to extend the split rail fence along Oak Vista Way and Valley Avenue to
Pleasanton Avenue ($210,000), and to meet project expenses required to complete the
entire project ($113,122). Neither the play equipment nor fence was included in the
project bid specs. The In Lieu Park Dedication Reserve Fund has a current balance of
$1,790,554. As indicated, if the Council approves this appropriation, staff will negotiate a
change order for the fencing along Oak Vista Way and Valley Avenue. However, for the
play equipment, staff plans to conduct a separate City directed bid process to assure
compliance with City standard specifications for its play areas. Should the City Council
select the base field bid or elect not to accept all of the project's add alternates, then the
allocation would be adjusted as warranted.
Schedule
The proposed schedule for the subject project is as follows:
Approval of Plans and Specifications and Award of Contract April 7, 2015
Start of Construction (260 working days) May 2015
End of Construction June 2016
Submitted by: Fiscal Review: Approved by:
Steven Bocian Tina Olson Nelson Fialho
Asst.
