Geotechnical Observation&Testing and Special Inspection BSK Proposal GL14-11128
Bernal Community Park Phase 2 January 11, 2015
Pleasanton,CA Page 2
Project Description
The proposed project consists of developing the site south of Bernal Avenue and east of Oak Vista Way
into a community park and oak woodlands. Phase 1 of the Bernal Community Park is located southwest
of the currently proposed development, and consists of baseball fields. Phase 2 of the park will consist
of three new turf fields, an oak woodlands landscaped area, at-grade parking, driveways, extensive
flatwork, a restroom and underground utilities. Grading will consist of cuts up to 8 to 10 feet deep to
create drainage and fills up to 8 to 10 feet to create landscaping mounds. Utility trenches will require
excavations of up to about 12 feet below finished grade.
We anticipate earthwork operations associated with construction of the park and woodlands will include
the following:
• Clearing/stripping of vegetation and other deleterious matter;
• Installation of new underground utility lines,including trench excavation and backfill;
• Cut and fill operations including creation of landscaping mounds and drainage swales;
• Turf field subgrade (including select import fill or lime treatment)and drainrock preparation;
• Flatwork subgrade(including select import fill or lime treatment)and baserock preparation;
• Asphalt pavement subgrade and baserock preparation;
• Retaining wall backfill;
• Installation of drilled piers for signage and landscaping structures;and
• Shallow foundation excavation for proposed landscaping structures and bathroom facility;
If the actual project differs significantly from that described above, specifically if the grading differs from
that we assumed, we should be contacted to review and, if needed, revise our scope of work for
applicability.
BSK
