<br /> Mini-Grant#: 14-20 Oakland International High School, Food Scrap Student Monitors,Oakland,West County,$3,000.00-
<br /> Funds will be used to pay for two student monitors every day for the 2014-2015 school year. These student monitors ensure that the
<br /> cafeteria waste is sorted properly into five(5)categories;compost, liquids,landfill,recycling and food share. Without these student
<br /> monitors the program would not function.Also,to support the program,educational handouts explaining the food scrap program have
<br /> been created and distributed to each teacher.

<br /> West County,$1,500.00-Funds will be used to purchase and introduce recycling and compost bins to the schoolyard and provide a
<br /> cart to assist the custodial staff in transporting the recycling and composting bins.
<br /> Mini-Grant#: 14-22 WasteSleuth.com,Zero Waste and Be a Sustainable Citizen Workshop,San Francisco,West County,
<br /> $3,000.00- Funds will be used to present workshops that provide education on zero waste,waste prevention,energy and resource
<br /> conservation,and sustainable activities. The project directly addresses one of the core objectives of the EAB:Community education
<br /> through waste prevention and recycling education programs.
<br /> Mini-Grant#: 14-23 Leconte Elementary School,Leconte Waste Reduction, Berkeley,West County,$1,947.00-Funds will be
<br /> used to purchase two outdoor waste stations that include compost and recycling bins. Waste stations will allow the school to capture
<br /> all of the recycling and compostable items outdoors,diverting them from the landfill. Funds will also be used to purchase
<br /> compostable utensils to replace plastic utensils for large school events.
<br /> Mini-Grant#: 14-24 Malcolm X PTA, Malcolm X Green Team, Berkeley,West County,$3,000.00-Funds will be used to
<br /> support intersecting waste reduction and recycling education projects facilitated by the Malcolm X Green Team. Projects are as
<br /> follows: Classroom"Zero Waste"party baskets,waste stations for outdoor school events,mid-sized compost bins for smaller indoor
<br /> events,"cob bench"to educate students on building from recycled earthen materials,and incentives for student participation(cafeteria
<br /> composting assistants).

<br /> $3,000.00-Funds will be used to support two environmental education programs: Workshops for Educators and Community Creative
<br /> Reuse Tables. These programs empower educators and the community with methods to creatively redirect waste. The Workshops
<br /> Educators program will host(6)creative reuse classes for local educators.The Community Creative Reuse Tables will set up tables at
<br /> events and act as creative hubs where individuals can create art using materials while learning about ways to reexamine what they
<br /> would normally throw away.
<br /> Mini-Grant#: 14-26 Berkeley Adult School, Berkeley Adult School Recycling Stabilization and Expansion, Berkeley,West
<br /> County, $2,424.00-Funds will be used to support recycling efforts at Berkeley Adult School by purchasing new recycling bins,
<br /> creating educational flyers,films and displays,and developing more and better signage for the bins.
<br /> Mini-Grant#: 14-27 Thousand Oaks Elementary School,Thousand Oaks Elementary Waste Reduction Project,Berkeley,
<br /> West County,$2,440.00- Funds will be used to purchase compost and recycle bins,host a Teacher Professional Development
<br /> Workshop and a Zero Waste Kick-Off event,and have signs made for classroom, lunchroom and the school grounds clearly marking
<br /> what goes in each bin. These items along with the support of the principal,enthusiastic parents,teachers and staff will make this
<br /> waste reduction project possible at Thousand Oaks.
<br /> Mini-Grant#: 14-28 Rising Star Montessori School,Rising Star Montessori Composting Program,Alameda,West County,
<br /> $1,587.00-Funds will be used to better accommodate the continued efforts in diverting organic food and paper matter from landfills
<br /> by"promoting and educating"zero waste stewardship amongst the Pre-K through 5th grade students and faculty staff members with an
<br /> ongoing participation in composting snack and lunch leftovers,switch to green bins in the bathrooms,purchase additional composting
<br /> bins and supplies,new Terra-Cycle collecting bins and expanding the school garden with a raised bed.
