City of Pleasanton
Phase 1A Recycled Water Distribution System Design Final Draft
Subtask 5.2 Assumptions:
• Feasibility Study alternative will stand as is(not refined)
• Trenchless alternative will be developed to a conceptual level of detail for appropriate analysis in
the evaluation
• If City selects trenchless alternative City will authorize Alternative Services Task 9B
Subtask 5.2 Deliverables:
• Draft TM in .pdf format via email and prior to the design criteria workshop
Subtask 5.3: Prepare Design Study Report
Consultant shall prepare the design study report, which shall include the following:
5.3.1 Design criteria including, but not be limited to:
• basis for alignment selection
• recommended pipe materials
• pipeline sizing and design flow and pressure requirements by reach
• pipeline appurtenance design criteria and sketches, including Title 22 identification requirements
• pipeline bridge support structural design criteria per 2013 California Building Code if the
Feasibility Study alignment across the Hopyard Road bridge over the Arroyo Mocho crossing is
retained
• methods of construction especially at channel and major road crossings
• outline of typical on-site retrofit requirements and criteria per Title 22 for City use in planning
customer connections
• summary of CEQA mitigation measures for incorporating into the contract documents
• summary of required permits
• traffic management requirements and traffic control plans
5.3.2 Pipeline layout plan drawings at 40 scale using City GIS as base map and without supplemental
survey data. Major existing utilities will be identified and the proposed alignment of the Project pipeline
will be shown relative to existing improvements (curb, road centerline, etc.). Layout drawing will not
include profiles.
5.3.3 Control valve station conceptual layouts, design criteria and preliminary equipment selection for
both DSRSD and Livermore supplies.
5.3.4 Channel culvert pipe support design concepts and criteria.
5.2.5 Hopyard Road bridge crossing support design concepts and criteria, including bridge structural
adequacy assessment. This would be performed only if City elects to proceed with the Feasibility Study
alignment alternative for the Arroyo Mocho crossing. Evaluation will be limited to the capacity of the
bridge to support the static and dynamic loads associated with hanging the recycled water pipeline from
the bridge, including assessing impact of pipe penetrations on existing bridge structure abutments and
bents, and beams. Consultant will rely upon bridge structural design information provided by the City.
Consultant will meet with City staff to discuss the methodology of the assessment and to identify other
constraints associated with using the bridges to support the pipeline.
5.3.6 System control strategy and communication requirements, including schematic diagrams will be
developed for implementation by the City.
Scope of Work Revs Page 9 of 17
August 20,2014
