Subject: FW: Water Conservation
SUPPLEMENTAL MATERIAL
Original Message Provided to the City Council
From:Joanne Hall After Distribution of Packet
Sent:Tuesday,May 06,2014 1:07 PM ] ,/
To: Pleasanton City Clerk DAM P-1-‘ Ou/yam
Subject:FW:Water Conservation J
Original Message
From: Bill Rose
Sent Tuesday, May 06,2014 11:53 AM
To:.Mayor and City Council
Subject:Water Conservation
Council Members,
I have lived in the same house in Pleasanton for almost fifty years now.
Over the last six or eight years I have reduced my water consumption by almost 20%.This was accomplished using low
flow faucets, shower heads, and toilets. I've installed an extensive drip system and drought resistant plantings. Now you
want me to reduce my water consumption by another 25%.If I have to stop bathing you will have to make sure you are
always up wind of me.
Seriously, I hope you can find a way to cut some slack for those of us who are already conserving water and energy.
Now I ask what the city is going to do to conserve water. If my lawn is brown and going wild I sure don't want to see
watered streets, green street medians, green parks,or green golf courses. The only acceptable source to water these
facilities is recycled water. Pumping water from public or private wells in not acceptable. That water is put in the aquifer
from sources that are already in short supply and does not solve the problem.Yes,Val Vista is now on recycled water.
This should have been done 10 years ago.Whatare we waiting for?
What is needed is a comprehensive city wide water conservation program that includes the city residents and city
facilities. If we only put on a mandatory 25%reduction and walk away its kind of like sticking our heads in the sand.
Thank You
William P.Rose
Pleasanton, CA 94566
1
