Task 7.1: Community Workshops
PMC will collaborate with City staff to coordinate and facilitate two
community workshops to gather input and feedback from city residents,
property owners, neighborhood groups, housing advocates and service
providers, and other stakeholders and interested parties. PMC will make
special efforts to encourage the participation of population groups with
special housing needs, such as low-income families, disabled individuals,
and seniors.
PMC will work with City staff to determine the content and agenda for
each meeting and will prepare materials such as presentation slides, display
materials, and handouts. The meetings are anticipated as follows:
• Workshop 1: Will be held during the drafting of the administrative
draft to present an overview of Housing Element components and the
revision process.
• Workshop 2:Will be held when the public hearing draft is complete
and will be to present background data, including information
regarding community demographics, housing conditions, and special
housing needs,as well as to present any new programs that have been
included in the Housing Element. .
Task 7.2: Focus Group Discussions
PMC will work with City staff to conduct two focus group discussions: one
with local non-profit housing developers and local service providers and
organizations representing special needs populations and one with for-profit
housing developers and finance professionals to discuss constraints to housing
development. PMC suggests holding these focus group meetings during
business hours to encourage higher attendance.
PMC will prepare materials for the meetings and will collaborate with staff
to facilitate the discussion. City staff will take the lead in identifying
potential attendees (with input and assistance from PMC) and will invite
groups directly via phone, e-mail, or mailing. City staff will identify a
meeting space, provide supplies, and set up the meeting space.
