Introduced and waived first reading of Ordinance 2085 to amend Municipal Code section <br /> 5.24.020 (Delinquent taxes — Penalties) to Restructure the Timing of Delinquent Business License <br /> Tax Penalties while Maintaining the Current Maximum Amount <br /> Councilmember Brown asked the Finance Director if the amendment is expected to improve timely <br /> payment of the associated fees. <br /> Mr. Fialho explained that the item relates to the Business License Program which is managed by the <br /> Economic Development rather than Finance Department. The amendment would increase the current <br /> delinquency fee and assess it over a shortened period of time in order to incentivize timely payment. As <br /> a matter of interest, delinquencies with respect to this fee are generally associated with small to <br /> medium sized companies rather than the city's larger organizations. <br /> Finance <br /> 8. Presentation of a Proclamation proclaiming December 3, 2013 as Giving Tuesday <br /> Councilmember Narum presented the proclamation and invited Sabrina Look of Foothill High School to <br /> provide comments. <br /> Ms. Look explained that in the wake of Black Friday and Cyber Monday, Giving Tuesday shifts the <br /> focus back towards the community and helping others in the spirit of the holiday.
