Mayor Hosterman commented on the Bide to Work Day and that a community survey
regarding bicycles would be coming out soon that asked what areas in town needed
improvements.
Mayor Hosterman closed the public hearing.
A break was taken at 9:13 p.m.
The meeting reconvened at 9:19 p.m.
Ms. McGovern commented on the bicycle issue on page 57 of the specific plan. She
asked if a bike and walking path all the way around the property can be created?
Mr. Fialho reviewed the current plan and noted that it could be modified to reflect a path
around the entire perimeter, however, there would be some difficulty around the area near the
680 on ramp.
Ms. McGovern stated that she would like to see this reflected in the plan in the future.
Mr. Sullivan agreed with Councilmember McGovem's comments.
Mr. Brozosky noted that there would need to be a more extensive discussion on bike
paths in the future.
Mayor Hosterman asked how the Council felt about the tennis courts and if the language
included is sufficient.
Mr. Brozosky stated that nothing prevents tennis courts from going in and he doesn't
want to spend money on changing the illustrative plan. He is comfortable that tennis courts can
go into the plan at some point.
Mr. Sullivan agreed with the language, but thought it needs to be shown on the map; it
would make the supporters feel better. He noted that all the commissions supported the
placement of the courts.
Mr. Thorne stated that the courts should remain in the plan, but he was not sure if it
needed to be on the illustrative plan. He asked if there would be an impact if they were to be
placed in the illustrative plan, would anything be taken away.
Mr. Fialho noted that nothing would be taken away, but they would have to find a
location for the tennis courts in the illustrative plan.
Mr. Rasmussen stated that the most likely place would be on the area near the open
space in close proximity to the park, for maintenance purposes.
Mr. Fialho noted that it is difficult to design the property in a public setting. The issue
could be master planned in the future so that all the stakeholders could be involved. This is why
staff is comfortable with including it in the language, but not on the map.
Pleasanton City Council 9 05/16/06
Minutes
