BACKGROUND
The first phase of the Pleasanton Tennis and Community Park was built in 1987, and at
that time, five tennis courts were constructed. Approximately ten years later, the
second and final phase of the park was built, and five more courts were added. Within
the past two years — with the original courts more than 25 years old - significant
cracking has begun to occur in the older courts and has reached a point where simple
"crack repair" is no longer an option. A more extensive reconstruction and resurfacing
is necessary, which will return the court surface to an "as new" condition which should
extend their life for an additional 20 years or more.
This project, designed by City staff, was set out for bid on August 27, 2013. On
September 17, 2013, two bids were received; with the low bid from the firm of Vintage
Contractors, Inc., of San Francisco; all bid documents were in order. This contractor
has worked for the City in the past (Fairlands Park Tennis Court Re-surfacing project,
2006, Pleasanton Middle School Court Resurfacing and Lighting Project, 2007), and is
known to be reputable and reliable.
Should the Council award this contract, it is anticipated that construction will begin on
October 21 , 2013, and will be completed and ready for public use on November 11,
2013 -S weather permitting.
Sub tid by: Fiscal Review: Approved by:
l
U
Daniel S h Emily Wagner Nelson Fialho
Director f Operations Director of Finance City Manager
Services
Attachments:
1.
