Mr. Huy A. Ho, P.E.
The City of Pleasanton
August 13, 2013
Page 3
• The City will perform the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) environmental
review process.
• The City will develop the front-end specifications.
• The estimated planning level construction cost of the project is between $2.5 and $3
million.
PUMP STATION DESIGN ASSUMPTIONS:
• The pump station is a precast structure.
• The pump station is not a self-cleaning pump station.
• The electrical building will be approximately a 12' x 15' concrete masonry unit (CMU)
block building and the electrical building does not include a restroom.
• The EARS Pump Station force main will be routed through Johnson Court and along the
DSRSD wastewater treatment plant access roadway to discharge in the Pleasanton
Junction Structure.
• Landscaping is not included in the design.
• The scope of work does not include a surge analysis because of the relatively short
pipeline distance (approximately 1350 feet) and relatively low velocity.
• The EATS pump station discharge pipeline will be rerouted to discharge in the
Pleasanton junction structure by installing an additional pipeline from EATS to the
Pleasanton Junction Structure.
• The pump station will not include a standby generator. In the event of a rower failure,
the City will bring a trailer-mounted generator to the site to power the pump station.
• The City will contract with another firm to design the process logic contrcller (PLC) and
to develop the pump station control strategy. Carollo will design the control schematics
and control wiring from each pump etc...to the PLC terminal block, the o:her firm will
design the PLC, control strategy, and SCADA controls.
• The quality assurance plan (i.e., refer to the general drawings of the S-6 pump station
project)will be included in the specifications.
• The wet well will be designed with enough room that a macerator system can be added,
if needed, in the future.
• The pump station site layout will be similar to the layout shown in Figure#7 of the
hydraulic modeling technical memorandum.
! t
